This is one of my favourite weekends, lots of food and fall colours to enjoy. We had pizza night on Friday and the kids played some Nintendo, an easy Friday night.
On Saturday morning I started prepping some food for our Thanksgiving dinner - dressing, gravy, and cranberry sauce. Meanwhile the kids watched a few movies and Dave worked on the lawn. Then Dave and E went golfing. Q and I went for a walk by the river. There were so many people down there to see the salmon jumping that we actually wore our masks while we had to wander close to other people.
Q got an ice cream first though. It was such a warm day the ice cream melted quickly so I got a few bites in too as I cleaned it up.
So pretty!!
Snuggling with a leaf
We met up with my friend and her son, her husband and older son were golfing with E and Dave, so it worked out well for us to meet up and walk together.
It was a beautiful day to be outside.
When we got back, I made homemade pasta sauce and meatballs, inspired by Roy Choi's recipes on The Chef Show. It was pretty good but the sauce was a little too runny for my preference.
On Sunday morning I made our apple pie and when it was out of the oven we went for a walk (the identical walk Q and I had done the day before).

Then home to get the turkey prepped and in the oven. Along with turkey, we had roasted beets and brussels sprouts, carrots, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, and cranberry. I know I made it, but it was all so tasty :) Well done me, haha.
Our kids were playing video games in the basement while Dave and I did some final prep.
Yum!
I always let the turkey rest under tin foil and layers of towels for at least an hour before we carve it.
My plate
And here we all are at the table.
We had two kinds of pie, apple and pumpkin. Both good but the pumpkin was best.
Q was "full" but had no issue eating pie.
Our neighbours were having a bonfire so we went over there after we ate and hung out for a bit.
On Monday morning we got our bikes ready and headed down to the Lakeshore to enjoy #ActiveTO (roads blocked to cars and open for bikers and runners).
I made a cheese board for our lunch since we weren't super hungry.
Then the kids and Dave played Monopoly and I had a nap and read. Then we watched the Scooby Doo Halloween special and had leftovers for supper. Both kids were tired so it was an early night for then. Then I tucked into my pie while I watched Dancing with the Stars. A successful long weekend.
Isn't Fall just incredible this year?!?!? Your Thanksgiving meal looks delicious!!!
