Happy Monday! Thank you for joining us today where we Share our Lives with you. My co-hosts are: Adrienne, Dara, Jen, and Joanne. We are here on the second Monday of each month. If you have a blog and posted on this topic, please link up with us below.
Today we are sharing our go to snacks. I tend to grab a snack mid-afternoon, particularly if I know we will be eating dinner later. If I get too hungry then my stomach tends to react badly to the meal that eventually gets in there, so I never like to be starving.
Meat sticks and Jalapeño Crackers - Costco stars for this one for a well-rounded snack of protein and carbohydrates.
Made Good cookies - These are really supposed to be for the kids' lunches but they seem to get all crushed up in transit so I gracefully eat them at home. And since each pack seems to have like 5 cookies in them, I will usually take two packets.
Pita Chips and Hummus - A few of these at the end of a long day while making dinner will tide me over until we eat.
Jamaican Patties - Any good Torontonian should have Jamaican beef patties at the ready! They are sold fresh all of the city, but we also like to get the frozen box. Everyone loves them in our house.
Protein bars - Especially in the summer when we are running to golf and the ball field, a protein bar is a handy snack/meal on the go.
Plain greek yoghurt (3/4 cup) with peanut butter (1 tbsp), honey (1 tsp), chocolate chips (1/4 cup), and cinnamon (to taste) - Because of the chocolate chips, I tend to think of this as more of a snack rather than breakfast.
Any homemade baked good - If we have cookies, a loaf, or muffins, I definitely grab one for a mid-morning snack with my second (or third) cup of coffee.
(You'll notice I don't have fruit or vegetables on this list. I don't find them to be filling enough on their own so I'm more likely to eat them with a meal instead.)
Those Jalapeno Crackers sound so good and the Jamaican Patties. I still buy the little bags of cookies even though no one takes them for lunches anymore as there are just the right amount in the packet.
ReplyDeleteI love chips with dip!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of made good cookies! We used to buy a lot of those Stacy's Pita chips as it my middle son's go to snack/lunch with hummus when he was in high school. If we're home we tend to make our own fresh pita chips to go with our hummus. Your Greek yogurt recipe sounds yummy! I am going to have to try that.
