What I’m reminiscing about…
I saw some Instructional League t-ball players practicing this week so I was reminiscing about when the boys started playing at that age. I am still impressed that Q and his teammates at 9 years old can throw strikes and hit the ball so well. They have come a long way since instructional.
What I’m loving…
Although I feel like August will fly by, I am loving that we are still just halfway through summer. We have had some great weather so far and have been very active. We could use more ice cream cones, but we’re doing well with our “summering”.
What we’ve been up to…
My mom was here visiting for a week. She was great at helping with things around the house, keeping the boys entertained while we were working, and keeping me company at the ballfield. Q had four games while she was here, that is more baseball than she’s watched in years!
What I’m working on…
I have been at my new job for three months. I feel like I am still transitioning into the role and how I can provide the most value. People are getting used to me being there and understanding how I can help them out. It’s a new role for the company, internal contract support, rather than using external counsel, so it’s a bit of a learning curve for everyone. But it is going well and I am definitely happy to be here!
What I’m excited about…
I picked up a couple of nice bottles of white wine at Freebird, one French and one Italian. I know they will be crisp and light, my favourite type of thing for summer.
What I’m watching/reading…
We are finishing up Widow’s Bay, and also watching Legends. I am rewatching The Summer I Turned Pretty.
I’m reading My Friends by Fredrik Backman.
What I’m listening to…
Right now I am listening to Q’s show, Trollhunters. He has watched it before, and E watched a few times before that. It’s a good enough show.
What I’m wearing…
My summer uniform of tank top and shorts on repeat. Since I’m working from home I don’t get to wear many of my nice clothes, and we are often biking somewhere so there is no need to get dressed up at home.
What I’m doing this weekend…
Baseball tournament in Kanata.
What I’m looking forward to next month…
Another baseball tournament, seeing some movies in the theatre, maybe Canada’s Wonderland, a week at a cottage, and soaking up all of the summer we can.
What else is new…
I cut Q’s hair this week. I am not a hairdresser but I did it a few times during the pandemic. Q’s hair was getting a little shaggy and we wanted it cut before going away this weekend. I think I did a good enough job but it’s probably good that he wears a baseball cap most of the time :)
