Weekend Recap

A supersize Weekend Recap today.  We started off on Friday with a visit to the Toronto Zoo.  We have been here a few times but not for a couple of years.  The elephants are gone but there were lots of baby animals to check out - polar bear, panda bears, lynx, and rhino.   This time we also visited the splash pad to cool off at the end of the day.  What a great addition to the zoo!  We didn't take many pictures of the animals, just our little animal climbing on various statues.

We love the penguins!  E laughed and laughed!

My two brave boys geared up to do the gorilla walk.  This is something I'm not sure I could do at all, let alone with E, but they both did great!

So high, I could barely even watch.

I only wish we had dressed E in brighter colours, but otherwise it was successful.

Then we had supper at a pub up the street.

On Saturday morning, we didn't do too much which was nice.  I had a doctor's appointment in the morning and when I got back, E was playing with trucks and old trim, making roads and ramps.

In the afternoon we went to a kid's birthday at the Mimico Cruising Club, down by our old neighbourhood.  It was a lovely afternoon.  This is Dave and me watching the dinosaur presenter.  E loved it!! He answered questions and everything.

On Sunday, we had a lazy morning, and then Dave took E to the driving range and to play mini-golf.  They had a great time.  I got my nails done, did some errands, and made a peach pie.

Pie and the Blue Jays, can't beat it!

The pie was so tasty.  I used this recipe, but I used my own recipe for the crust.  I also didn't bother poaching the peaches and taking the skins off.  That is my usual deterrent for making anything with fresh peaches, so I just decided to use the skins and make it easy on myself.  You know what? You can't even tell, especially when you add some vanilla ice cream ;)

On Monday, we headed out to a local beach.  We had thought about Ashbridges Bay but the water quality website said it had failed to meet the standards, so we went to Bluffer's Beach instead at the Scarborough Bluffs.  We have never been there and it is quite the sight.  I love finding places in Toronto that don't look like you're in a big city, and this is one of them.  The beach was crazy busy.  I don't know why I thought that the holiday Monday in the summer wouldn't be busy,  but clearly I was mistaken.  It all worked out though and we had a great day.  I want to go back, but will have to find a time when it isn't as insane.

Waiting for Dave to pick us up.  I wanted a picture of the bluffs in the background to prove we were there.

Back to work today :(
