Show and Tell Tuesday

Linking up with Andrea for Show and Tell Tuesday.

Today we are doing a House Tour.  I did a house tour last year but a few things are different.

Welcome, come on in!

Our collage wall has changed since last time, we added a few more items and we really enjoy it.

The mess in the corner is E's art desk. He sits there sometimes to work on a craft or do some colouring. I need to tidy it up while he is away this week.

In case you can't tell, that is Titanic on the screen.

E's room.   Cozy, but just right for him.

Upstairs bathroom

The master bedroom

And now for some photos of our newly renovated basement!  I will do a future post on this to show the before and after so the full appreciation of the change but here are some for now.

Our new guest room and 4th bedroom.

New laundry and storage.

And the piece de la resistance, the second bathroom. Dave did a really good job on all of these rooms but the bathroom is really nice.   The photos don't really do it justice.

Our third bedroom upstairs is in the midst of being redone for the baby's room, it needs some plaster work and a coat of paint, and then we can start bringing in the crib, etc.
Dave is also continuing work on the basement for the office/library area. Big reveals to come in the months ahead.

Thanks for stopping by!

Want it Wednesday

Our guest suite in the basement is almost ready for some visitors (well it still needs a floor...and trim, window treatment and closet finishings, but you get the idea).  I am not allowed to share photos yet, I will convince Dave to do a guest post at some point to show the work done on the basement.    In the meantime, I am checking out some nice things we can decorate with.

I will probably try to get some things at Homesense, but I'll be looking for things like this:

Something simple for the side of the bed.  Maybe some colour or maybe something neutral.

They probably won't sell these types of pillows at Homesense, but I'll see what I can find:

(Jane is our subway station)

I like the colourful duvet covers and quilts but I think a neutral design will be more long lasting. Anthropologie has beautiful things to look at for inspiration.

To make a welcoming guest room, I want to make sure I have provided the following:

Space in the closet and dresser for guests to unpack.

Lots of towels, an extra blanket and pillows.  This will save them from having to ask for them.

The wifi password.

Magazines or books to browse through.

Extra toiletries, like lotion, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, etc. in case they forgot anything.  I'll also pick up an extra hair dryer for the guest bathroom.

Tray with water glasses, snacks, gum, and subway tokens.

We don't have a TV in our guest room, which is always nice, but since most people have an ipad now, then it should be fine.

Weekend Recap

Another fun filled weekend and we still (somehow) got a lot accomplished.   On Friday night we watched the first Hunger Games movie.  I never tire of those movies but we wanted to brush up before we see part 4 later this month.

E was not watching Hunger Games by the way, this was the Grinch Who Stole Christmas (followed by Charlie Brown Christmas)

I set my alarm for early Saturday morning so I would not miss the Toronto Recreation sign up for swimming (as I have done in the past).  I pressed refresh for about 30 minutes but got through and registered for the swimming lessons we wanted.

After that I went to pick up some groceries and then I went to get my hair done for my office Christmas party.  E had Sportball and Dave prepped the basement for his Sunday project (more on that below).   In the afternoon I made a soup for E and the babysitter's supper, vacuumed and then we went to buy a new mattress for our soon to be 4th bedroom downstairs.

We got ready for the party and off we went.  Cocktails first, then dinner and some dancing.  The pictures got less respectable as the night went on, I am only sharing a few.

Given the fun we had the night before, my Sunday morning looked like this:

I roused myself off the couch by lunchtime and started to get organized for the day.  I put together my party prep schedule for making cookies and picking up other food.  Then I figured out how much I needed for baking supplies.

E worked on his letter to Santa while I started making oat cakes.

Then we walked ran down the street to mail the letter.

Pizza for supper and then some Polar Express.  E was very excited.

Dave's project was pouring concrete in the basement.  Fortunately our friend Matt came over to help which meant I didn't need to get involved. We were both happy he came over.   The part of the basement floor where we are putting the fourth bedroom was about 2 inches lower than the rest, so that needed to built up before framing.
