Friday Favourites

The kids had a snow day yesterday and I decided to work from home as well, also Dave was trying to get back from Vegas and dealing with cancelled and delayed flights. This is kind of a "Day in the Life - Snow Day Edition".

I was up at 5:45, as I had planned, to do my workout. I scheduled an upper body workout which may have not been the best idea since there would be lots of shovelling later on, but I stuck to my plan.

While doing my workout I got the message that school was cancelled and saw that the snow would be continuing most of the day.  I went up to turn the boys' alarms off and left these notes for them so they would know the good news when they got up.

I did go out and did a bit of shovelling. Some would wait until the snow stopped by this is why I didn't wait: 1) I knew it would still be light and fluffy, 2) I wanted to clear the sidewalk, and 3) I knew I'd have to move the snow anyway so I might as get a headstart.

I worked for about 45 minutes and got the sidewalk cleared and the front of the driveway.

Then I took a mini-snow day break and read my book under the heated blanket for a little bit before I needed to get to work.  I’m really glad I took these few minutes when I had the chance since the rest of my day was pretty busy.

I had back to back meetings all morning but the kids went out and did some shoveling on their own.  After lunch I went back out.  E was going to a friend’s house but I made him help me for a few minutes before he left.

Q came out for a few minutes too before I went back in. There really was so much snow and we couldn’t do it all at once, plus it was still snowing!

I finished up my work and then went back out.  The plough had gone by so I had to do the end of the driveway and then I cleared the car and did a bit of tidying up.  There was one part between the cars that I just could not do. But we can do it tomorrow.

I had put together a lasagna and it was ready when I got back inside.

Dave eventually connected through Vancouver and got on a flight to Toronto off the stand-by list.

Hope you have a great weekend, we are expecting more snow, which is great for skiing, not for shoveling.

Day in the Life

I thought I would do another Day in the Life post. This was my day on Monday.

My alarm was set for 5:50 and I dragged myself out of bed shortly after it went off...

...so I could go down and do a workout.  If I leave it to later in the day then I find it difficult to get in, so an early alarm is a must.  I did 30 minutes of lower body and 10 minutes of core.  Dave came down too to do a bike.

Starting my day with my AG1.

And then a shower and a coffee.

Dave had left for work and I was letting the kids sleep in a bit.  I had a scone to enjoy with my coffee.

Boys finally up and eating breakfast.

The snow from the day before was still there, with more that had fallen, so I thought we had better shovel the front walkway. Q was eager to help out.

I dropped Q off at school, and as I was taking E he saw his friends so he decided to walk.

I settled into work for the morning and after I finished up a phone call I got ready to go out.

I needed to pick up our Christmas party invitations that I had printed at Staples and I went to Canadian Tire as well. I got these gloves for E and a few cleaning supplies.  Canadian Tire was decked out with Christmas stuff but I was able to avoid buying anything new.

I had some leftovers for lunch when I got home and watched a bit of the Murdaugh Murders show.

Back down to my desk after lunch.

Mid-afternoon I got some nuts to snack on.

I picked up Q from school and we spent some time on the couch before I started getting dinner ready.

We had tomato soup and nachos. Simple because I thought I was going to have to get Q to baseball but it was rescheduled.

After dinner and clean up, E practiced his guitar.  This is his reaction when I asked to take his photo.

And a real photo.

Q did some writing practice.

E stole my phone and took a few candid shots of me.  Not that flattering but real life.  We watched some of The Office and after the kids went to bed, Dave and I watched an episode of The Diplomat.

In bed before 11:00 (and then a bit of scrolling before actually going to sleep).

A pretty regular day.

Sharing Our Lives - Day in the Life

Happy Monday! Thank you for joining us today where we Share our Lives with you.  My co-hosts are: AdrienneDaraJen, and Joanne.  We are here on the second Monday of each month.  If you have a blog and posted on this topic, please link up with us below.

Today is one of my favourite types of posts - a day in the life.  I documented my day last Thursday.

My alarm went off at 5:30 so I could get up for a workout.  I was doing a 30 minute Glutes and Legs with Rebecca Kennedy on the Peloton App.

Then I went up to the kitchen to get breakfast and lunch ready, and listened to a podcast.

Always drink my AG1 first thing in the morning.

Thought it was time to put these bananas away in the freezer.

I packed up the kids lunches, and a breakfast for myself.

Coffee with a scoop of collagen powder.

Then I went upstairs to shower and put my make up on. On this day I did not wash my hair so that saved a bit of time.

Popped in to wake up Q

Quick photo before heading out.  E was slowly making his way downstairs.

Dave and I were walking to the subway together.

Settling into my office for the day.

I didn’t take any photos during the day since it was just me sitting at my desk in the morning working on audit requests, reviewing commercial terms for a new contract, and talking to my colleagues on Teams.  We had lunch brought it and a few of us ate together in the board room which was a nice treat.  In the afternoon I was in a meeting for most of it, and then had a phone call with Q’s teacher.  Parent teacher interviews had been cancelled because of a snow storm last month so we had rescheduled.

Laptop closed, time to head home.

Dave was slightly ahead of me so he had time to fit in a workout.  Since we weren’t eating right away I had a little snack of these jalapeño crackers and meat sticks.

Then I helped E make pizza muffins to take to his class potluck the next day.  We made them gluten free so everyone could eat them.

We had leftovers for dinner, nothing fancy. Then I helped Q with his reading.  E was also finishing up some homework, he had to make a video about all of the stuff he likes to do.

I went upstairs to pack the suitcases for our ski trip, and Q followed me up and tried on all of my stuff. You can’t really see but he has about 6 bangles on his wrists too.

Then I purchased our lift tickets for our first day on the slopes, Saturday.

And because I was basically on holiday, I made a cocktail.

After we got the kids to bed, Dave and I tried to watch some TV but I was falling asleep so we gave up.
