First Day of School

The first day of school has always been one of my favourite days, and it continues with my own kids.  This year E is heading into Grade 6 and Q is in Grade 1.  These feel like milestone years, Q will get his own desk rather than doing the play based learning and E is technically in the middle school years even though he won't change schools until Grade 9.  We are fortunate that we have confident kids so there is no anxiety walking into their new classes on the first day.

Ready for the day.

Lunches packed

We always walk to school on the first day and we met up with the other neighbourhood kids.

The day was a success for the boys, they have great teachers and lots of pals in their classes.  However when I asked Q how his day was, the first thing he said was "when is it the weekend?".  But he was only asking because he thought his birthday is this weekend (it's not).  E had lots of stories about what they did too.  We had our traditional meal of beefy mac and cheese and then headed to Staples to pick up a few school supplies.

  1. Happy first day of school to your boys! It's so great that they look happy and confident starting school again. Beefy mac and cheese sounds like a great food tradition for the first day. Yum!!
