Sharing Our Lives - Favourite Vacation Memories

Happy Monday! Thank you for joining us today where we Share our Lives with you.  My co-hosts are: AdrienneDaraJen, and Joanne.  We are here on the second Monday of each month.  If you have a blog and posted on this topic, please link up with us below.

Today we are sharing our favourite vacation memories.

As I was sitting down to write this I misread the title as favourite vacation “moments” so that set me on a different train of thought.  I quickly realized it said “memories” but wanted to write this post in a different way.  My favourite vacation memories are sort of the typical ones - sitting under the Eiffel Tower, watching the fireworks at Magic Kingdom, seeing a sea turtle while snorkeling in Hawaii, etc. and I have been fortunate to experience those things, but vacation is really so much more than those big events.  It’s those vacation “moments” that are really the essence of being on holiday.

- Sitting down at the airport once you’re all checked in and through security.  We get to go to the Maple Leaf lounge now and it’s so nice to sit there, get your drink and little plate of food and just chill before the trip actually begins.

- Laying on your bed between your days’ events and evening dinner.  Scrolling your phone, watching TV, dozing off, eating candy, having a glass of wine.  Whether I’m alone, with my girlfriends, or my entire family, I love this little time to reset.

- Finding the perfect restaurant by accident. You can do all the research you want, but sometimes you just pick a place to eat that you’re walking by and end up having the best meal of the trip.

- Specific to resort holidays - having lunch poolside

- Specific to skiing holidays - those first runs when the snow perfect

- Specific to camping - quiet mornings and sitting around the bonfire

- Specific to cottaging - sitting on the porch/deck/dock with your coffee

  1. These are all wonderful moments! I do love those do nothing/lying around moments where I'm just at peace and resting (though admittedly I'm awful at resting on vacation!).

  2. I love your take on this as these moments are something that a lot of us hopefully experience on vacations! I really do love those moments at the airport (on flying vacations) when you've finally checked it and now everything is about to unfold!
