Friday Favourites

It’s Friday again, and not to repeat myself but we had another great week of fall weather.

I moved to a new office (within the same suite) and this is my new view. It is nice getting settled into my permanent space. Another happy part of my week is that we had a new colleague starting who just happens to be my “work sibling” from my last company! It is so nice to be working together again :)

It was “Soup Week” at our house this week. It started with French Onion Soup on Sunday and then tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches on Monday, so I decided to continue the theme with broccoli cheese soup, and finally we went out for ramen on Wednesday. So yes, soup four nights in a row, but all different types. Perfect for a fall week,

E had his Grade 10 Civics exam so I was helping him study - it included some of my favourite topics like the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and division of powers #nerd. He said he thinks he did alright.

We were paying attention to the US Election Night this week, we are hoping that some of the changes will bode well for Canada’s relationship with our neighbours to the South. But really I was just reminiscing about our trip to New York City two years ago, I remember we flew out on the morning of Election Day that year.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Friday Favourites

Happy Friday and Happy Halloween!

I voted on Monday in our municipal election and I got my poppy :)

Q and I walked up to his piano recital on Tuesday. I read something this week that says we should try to get outside in the evenings even when it starts getting darker so I was glad we walked.

He played Take Me Out to the Ballgame and did very well!

A few Halloween themed meals this week - French toast (made with hamburger buns) with Halloween sprinkles, for Q’s lunch (E ate his for breakfast).

Some pumpkin sugar cookies, I can’t resist a seasonal cookie!

And our mummy dogs and brains.

Tomorrow we have to get our pumpkins carved, and Dave is golfing in the Pumpkin Scramble.

Stay safe out there!

Friday Favourites

Happy Friday! We had some beautiful fall weather this week. I walked home from the store on Monday and snapped a quick photo of these hydrangeas that are "antiquing".

Call me Paddington Bear. I grabbed a piece of toast with marmalade on my way out the door on Wednesday morning. Yum!

It was E's 15th birthday on Wednesday. We did the usual birthday waffles for breakfast with whipped cream and sprinkles. After work and school we went to Activiate. This is a place with a bunch of interactive game rooms, I can't even really describe it. It was really fun!

Then we went out for E's favourite meal, sushi.

And he opened his gifts.

And we had a couple of cupcakes (I am making his actual birthday cake for his friend party on the weekend).

We finished off our night watching the recorded Raptors home opener, nice to see a commanding win.  A great birthday night for our big kid.

Friday Favourites

I am travelling back from Vancouver today after being away for work. It is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada so I will be glad for the extra day off on Monday!

My travels take me to the Northern Interior of British Columbia. I could not get over that all the leafed trees were turning the same shade of yellow. It was so pretty and fascinating. I guess it is because there are only a couple of different types of trees so there isn't much variation when the leaves turn in the fall.

Don't worry, I took these two photos when I was stopped on the highway at some construction.

This is the view from my accommodations on Tuesday morning. I was actually up and at breakfast way before this, but enjoyed the rising sun when I got back.

On my way back through Prince George I got to meet up with Dave's sister for dinner!

I spent Thursday in Vancouver and got out for a quick early walk before my work day started. The early morning harbour views were pretty great.

I met a colleague at Nightengale for lunch and then I grabbed a quick coffee at the Fairmont Pacific Rim before my meeting.

I was fortunate to have some other moms send me some photos of Q from the week. He ran in the cross country race on Thursday.

And he made apple crisp at one of his friend's house earlier in the week. So fun!

I like travelling for work because I don't do it that often, but I am also glad to be getting home today.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Friday Favourites

I can't let the day go by without acknowledging 9/11. It's not a day to celebrate, certainly, but a way that we recognize the day is to listen to the Come From Away soundtrack. It's a great reminder of the ways people helped each other out that day and the days that followed.

These photos are from last Friday. I took the boys out for dinner Queen Margherita Pizza, we walked there, and enjoyed our meal (Dave was golfing).

We took our bikes down to the river on the weekend and the baby turtles were out and being collected and protected.

The kids went back to school on Tuesday - Grade 5 for Q and Grade 10 for E. Traditional photo shoot on the front porch!

Some ladies were walking by and offered to do a family photo, which turned out well!

The Grade 5 French Immersion boys.

I ordered some things from The Ordinary last week. I have used a few of these products before but added a toner this time.

Last night I went to the golf club for the last ladies' night, and although did not play a round, I did participate in the chipping contest. And then we had our first choir practice of the season. It is nice to be back singing with a group, instead of just me in my car.

Friday Favourites

Friday again! Let’s go!

I started my Monday morning off right with a good book, a coffee, and a little outdoor time before I started working.

Because I hadn’t gotten a workout in all day I decided to go for a walk. I love that I get to go through the woods and walk beside the water while still being in the heart of Toronto.  We are so lucky to live where we live.

We set up the badminton net in the backyard and had a few family games. It really is a fun sport!

My dad was in town and got to golf with E.

Q pitched in his house league game on Tuesday. He did well!

He also had some private pitching lessons. He was doing some bicep curls (with 5s) beforehand.

Last house league game this week. The team finished in the number 1 seed, so bring on the playoffs!!

I golfed on Thursday night and got to meet a few new people. I didn’t take any photos but I was pleased they bought back the green goddess salad as a special.  It was delicious!
