What's Up Wednesday

What we're eating this week...
Sunday - I had Rosseau Pizzeria on my way home from taking E to camp
Monday - Spaghetti with meat sauce (and some gyro fries at the ball park)
Tuesday - Leftover spaghetti
Wednesday - Turkey burgers
Thursday to Saturday - Not planned yet!

What I'm reminiscing about...
I've been seeing cars packed full of stuff, moving vans, and posts about people moving their kids into university.  What an exciting time of year! I loved moving into Shirreff Hall in fall of 1999 and finding my way around Dalhousie's campus.

What I'm loving...
Love to see the Blue Jays doing well this late in the season! We're looking forward to some October baseball.

What I'm dreading...
Summer is busy but in a sort of relaxed way (if that makes sense), September is busy but in a structured way, coupled with wanting to get back on track with eating well and working out, so although I'm ready to dive into fall, I am also dreading it in a way too.

What we've been up to...
Enjoying the beautiful weather we had this summer, golfing, and being at the t-ball field.

What I'm working on...
We need to fill in this space in our dining room.  We want to put a sideboard there and I think we have it narrowed down, we just need to order it.  And then buy a few decorative items to the space.  Not my strong suit but Dave is pretty good at it.

What I'm excited about...
Picking up E from camp and hearing about his week.  This last week of the summer is called "Classic" and it's just for teens, there are some pretty elaborate activities and games each day, not just typical camp stuff.  The camp's instagram stories look pretty amazing. We even got a glimpse of E in one of them.

What I'm watching/reading...
I'm watching The Summer I Turned Pretty, but I'm only on the first season and I'm really trying to avoid spoilers.
I'm reading another great Genevieve Graham book.

What I'm listening to...
We love the K Pop Demon Hunters Soundtrack, it has been on repeat around here.

What I'm wearing...
Sweatshirts in the evenings. Our weather has cooled a bit and it means when the sun goes away it can be chilly.

What I'm doing this weekend...
Picking up E from camp, getting stuff ready for school, and hosting E's friends for a little get together before they head off to high schools.

What I'm looking forward to next month...
First day of school, t-ball playoffs, fall golf, social events, and Q's birthday.

What else is new...
I joined ladies night at the golf club this year and my team won! Stableford points are awarded for your 9 hole round played on Thursday.  I still don't completely understand the Stableford point system but I do know that I contributed to our team's total a few times, which was great!  I especially liked the patio time meeting new ladies and getting to know everyone.

What's Up Wednesday

You'd think I'd be tired of doing this What's Up Wednesday posts after all these years, but I love doing this little recap of our month, and I often go back to years' past to see what we were up to then.

What we're eating this week...
Sunday - Hamburgers
Monday - Quesadillas and Corn
Tuesday - Lemon Parm Pasta and Chicken
Wednesday - Sausages
Thursday - Dinner at the Golf Club
Friday - Take out

What I'm reminiscing about...
I was remembering summers I spent with my grandparents when I was a teenager, before I had a job.  I would usually go to Ontario to stay with them for a couple of weeks. My Nana and I liked to go shopping, we would play cards, visit their friends' cottages. I was lucky to spend that time with them.

What I'm loving...
E has a Canada's Wonderland pass for the summer and he has been there a few times already.  Most of his friends have one too and it's a great way to spend the day. They gave up on the line for the new coaster, AlpenFury, yesterday but got lots of other rides in.

What I'm dreading...
I still haven't sorted through the papers that the kids brought home from school (I know!!). And although I'm sure most of it will end of in the garbage, I am still dreading that task.

What we've been up to...
We had a lovely trip to Prince Edward Island last week.  You can read about it here and here.

What I'm working on...
I'm the team manager for Q's t-ball rep team so I am organizing the team dinner for this weekend and also ordering some Subway platters for Sunday.

What I'm watching/reading...
We enjoyed the new Happy Gilmore movie! And I just finished Amy Bradley is missing. We are always watching our Blue Jays, although this has been a rough week!

I just picked up an Elin Hilderbrand book as a summer read.

What I'm listening to...
The Rewatchables podcast on Brokeback Mountain.  I haven't watched that movie for many years but I am inspired to put it on again, even just for the award winning score.

What I'm wearing...
My new Blue Mussel Cafe t-shirt! I don't always buy a t-shirt from stores/restaurants, but I liked this simple one as a a souvenir from our delicious lunch.

What I'm doing this weekend...
Q has a t-ball tournament in Ancaster.  We have a hotel booked for three nights.

What I'm looking forward to next month...
More t-ball, golf, and enjoying our summer.

What else is new...
I had to buy a mug from Village Pottery. I chose this style as a latte mug for Dave.  And we of course had to get some coffee beans from Receiver.

What's Up Wednesday

 What we're eating this week...
It's one of those weeks where our plans are all over the place and it's too hot to think about cooking much.  So your guess is as good as mine!

What I'm reminiscing about...
School is finishing up on Friday and E will be off to a new school in the fall for high school.  His dear JK and SK teachers had done "time capsules" that were saved until this year.  So cute!

(Me in 8th grade)

What I'm loving...
It is hot weather time in Southern Ontario and I love it! It never lasts that long so I will take it when I can.

Sweat stains included!

What I'm dreading...
I admit I have not been as up to date on current events as I usually am, but those are the types of things that keep me worried - threat of war, forest fires, economic instability, etc. I found when I was in Europe, the BBC News had a wider array of stories, more than Canada's news, so I will try to keep up with the news from more sources going forward.

What we've been up to...
Going from work/school to the ball field to the golf course and back, while also trying to keep up with the laundry, yard work, and vacuuming!

What I'm working on...
I think I finally put the finishing touches on our summer plans.  Just a couple of things to book and plan, but at least I know what we are doing.  Going to Paris at the end of May/first of June meant I was focused on that instead the summer and left it to the last minute.  I can only think about one thing at a time!

What I'm excited about...
E's Grade 8 graduation ceremony is this afternoon.  I wrote about his Grade 8 year here. It will be nice to get together with the parents and see all the kids together in their nice outfits.

What I'm watching/reading...
I've got a few things queued up - the Rob Ford doc on Netflix, America's Sweethearts Season 2, And Just Like That Season 3, and The Bear Season 4.
I've got a couple of light reads for the summer from the library, but nothing of note.

What I'm listening to...
I have a Canada Day playlist that I will dust off for next week - The Tragically Hip, Celine Dion, Our Lady Peace, Drake, Justin Bieber, and so many more gems.

What I'm wearing...
I have talked about this dress before, but I am loving my maxi dress from Athleta.  I got it last year and it is perfect for those hot days and for travelling.

What I'm doing this weekend...
Q's first tball tournament of the season.  His rep team has only had a couple of practices, but they should be ready!

What I'm looking forward to next month...
A concert, a trip to PEI, and more golf and tball.

What else is new...
My work is moving offices and we have a break between leases so I am working exclusively from home this summer until our new lease starts in the fall.  I am happy to have the flexibility!
Working from the backyard when it's not too hot.

What's Up Wednesday

What we're eating this week...
Sunday - Steak, baked potatoes, asparagus
Monday - Wings and leftover potato salad
Tuesday - Leftover steak
Wednesday-Saturday - I am off to Paris so I'll be enjoying some nice meals out, the boys will have to fend for themselves!

What I'm reminiscing about...
Dave and I celebrated our wedding anniversary on Friday.  I got our photo album out to look at it, it was fun to look back at all those fresh faces.

What I'm loving...
I tuned in for King Charles' Speech from the Throne opening Parliament yesterday.  I am a monarchist and a political junkie so it was a big day!  I really enjoyed his remarks on Canada at the beginning and even teared up a bit when he mentioned the various battles fought by Canadians over the years. I think it was a successful visit, and hopefully *you know who* took notice.

What I'm dreading...
Jet lag!  It's something I can manage for myself, but I know Q is not going to take it well.  Hopefully the excitement of being on holiday along with the promise of beaucoup de croissants will do the trick.

What we've been up to...
I have been out golfing with E three times this year.  I only need 18 more holes until I have an official handicap.  The weather had been cold and wet so I've missed out on ladies night so far, but will hopefully get there next month.

What I'm working on...
Our office is moving and we will be out of current space at the end of June with a bit of time to work from home before our new lease starts in the fall. I have been going through old papers and throwing out a lot of things.  A few more things left to organize before things get put into storage.

What I'm excited about...
It seems that our weather is finally warming up so that is what I'm most excited about now.

What I'm watching/reading...
We stalled a little in our TV with all of the hockey playoffs and being sick (so early bedtimes for all) and now we will be travelling.  Need to get our shows organized and make some headway when we get back.  I will probably download the new Tina Fey and Steve Carrell show for the plane.

I'll tell you about my books next month, but currently reading Sankofa by Chibundu Onuz.

What I'm listening to...
I rediscovered a great song - Numba 1 by Kardinal Offishal and Rhianna.  It was playing on the radio the other day so I've since added it to my Dance Party playlist and queue up on the regular.

What I'm wearing...
I think a switch flips when you reach a certain age and the clothes from Costco don't look too bad! Seriously though, they were selling the exact same pants that I bought from Athleta, but with a Kirkland label, so I bought them in a different colour.  To balance that out, I also bought some things from Aritizia. I like to go "high-low" like Meghan Markle, haha!!

What I'm doing this weekend...
Going to Versailles on Friday, taking a boat tour on the Seine, and walking the streets of Paris ;)

What I'm looking forward to next month...
The second part of our Paris trip when Dave and the boys come over too.  Then my birthday, a visit from my dad and his wife, E's Grade 8 Grad, and the last day of school.

What else is new...
Q has been trying out for the 8s Rep t-ball team.  He was on the 7s team last year.  Dave is helping out with coaching and we have an inside track on who will be making the team. Although there is still one tryout on Saturday, chances are we will be looking forward a summer of rep tournaments.

What's Up Wednesday

I didn't get around to posting this yesterday but never like to miss a "What's Up Wednesday" post.

What we're eating this week...
Sunday - Steak, Boiled Potatoes, and Green Beans
Monday - Tacos
Tuesday - Pasta
Wednesday - Fish Sticks and Sweet Potatoes
Thursday-Saturday - Your guess is as good as mine!

What I'm reminiscing about...
Five years ago we were still in the early days of COVID lockdowns, not sure what was going on and when restrictions would be lifted.  But it was this time when we started venturing outside to get some more fresh air, staying mostly in our backyard or riding bikes in the parking lot.  What a time it was!

What I'm loving...
I bought these little shorts to go under dresses and skirts. They aren't shapewear but instead prevents chafing and provides a bit of protection when sitting on the subway.  They are so comfy and will help with walking around in the summer and when traveling.

What I'm dreading...
I love cherry blossom time at High Park, but I have to be there for about 8 hours this Saturday and again on Sunday and sometimes dealing with the crowds can be tiresome!  We will be taking the subway or our bikes for sure as we will never be able to find a parking spot.

What we've been up to...
Dave has been working on the lawn, as he does. We think we want to tackle the front yard landscaping this year.  We have never liked the big mound of dirt covered with lily of the valley.  We'd prefer to have more grass and a different area for plants.  We'll see what we can do with the space.

What I'm working on...
At work right now I am working on client contracts, preparation for the audit and risk committee, reviewing some insurance matters, and getting some equipment financing documents signed, among other things.

What I'm excited about...
The election results with Mark Carney and the Liberals to form government.  Now it is a minority government but still a strong showing from where the Liberals were four months ago.  I will be watching keenly to see how this new government takes shapes and deals with Trump.

What I'm watching/reading...
Hockey playoffs (Go Leafs!), The Studio, Amazing Race, and The Great British Baking Show.

I'm reading a Genievieve Graham book now.  You can see my March and April book reviews here.

What I'm listening to...
I found a "Stress Release" playlist the other day to play.  It kind of sounds like what you'd hear while getting a massage, it's "gentle piano and ambient music" and it works well for when I need something to listen to while at work but am not in the mood for pop songs with words.

What I'm wearing...
Some new sneakers.  I finally settled on a pair of casual sneakers after looking for a long time.  I chose some Nike Air Max and Gamma Force.  Dave also got a couple of pairs of casual sneakers.

What I'm doing this weekend...
It's High Park Little League Opening Day. Q has a ball hockey game and a t-ball game. It's Men's Opening Day at the golf club for Dave.  As well as a wine and cheese party to attend.

What I'm looking forward to next month...
Of course our trip to Paris! But also the start of t-ball season, a work trip, and a visit from my mom.

What else is new...
I joined the golf club as "Learn to Golf" member. Not that I need to learn to golf, but it's a very affordable way to join the club and get a few rounds in.   I'm hoping to get to a few ladies' nights this summer.

What's Up Wednesday

 What we're eating this week...
Sunday - Tortilla Casserole
Monday - Baked chicken legs, potatoes, and vegetables
Tuesday - Chicken sausages, french fries, coleslaw
Wednesday - Meghan's Pasta
Thursday - Quiche
Friday - Pizza

What I'm reminiscing about...
Q and I were sitting on the couch the other day and I was looking at how long his legs were getting. While we were sitting there I looked up photos of when he came home from the hospital when he was born and he was sleeping on the couch.

What I'm loving...
We are only two races in to the F1 season, but I am loving the excitement so far. I love the new Mercedes rookie, Kimi Antonelli, he's only 18!!

What we've been up to...
Getting some things crossed off our lists after our busy ski season.  We have done some cleaning, organizing, and got in a few outdoor runs last week.

What I'm working on...
Just finished up working on our taxes last night.  It's never that complicated but it does require some effort to get it all done, make sure all of the boxes and ticked, and submit.

What I'm excited about...
Our trip to Paris! It's not until the end of May, but I love having a trip to look forward too.  I've purchased a few new things to wear, including a Mbappe jersey for Q (just the cheap one), since he can't be wearing Messi in France! It will go in his Easter basket.

What I'm watching/reading...
Watching The White Lotus and Severance with Dave, with Adolescence and Running Point on our list.  And watching Amazing Race and Canada's Ultimate Challenge with the kids.
I'm not doing a great job of reading books this month.

What I'm listening to...
My new favourite song to sing in the car is Defying Gravity.  I didn't catch onto it when I saw the movie but after seeing Ariana and Cynthia perform at the Oscars, I have been all in on it.

What I'm wearing...
I bought this blazer and this dress for my trip, but of course can wear them other places too.

What I'm doing this weekend...
This is the magical time between skiing and baseball/golf, so we have no set plans, which is nice. It is supposed to rain a lot so we may watch some movies, make cookies, and play games.

What I'm looking forward to next month...
Easter, the federal election, and hopefully some spring weather.

What else is new...
The schedule has been set for Q's t-ball season, so that is exciting. And E is starting his Bronze Cross swimming lessons next week.
