Friday Favourites

Happy Summer Friday! This is my favourite time of year I think.

On Monday night Q was called up to the minor league baseball.  He got on base and got to play third. He hung in there with the big kids!

Our executive team had some off site sessions this week on Tuesday and Wednesday.  We were at The Drake.  We had a nice little meeting space and were served breakfast and lunch each day. I enjoyed my breakfast in the Sky Yard.

On Tuesday we had dinner booked at The Foxley but stopped by Bellwoods Brewery for a drink first. Ossington Ave. has so many great spots. Foxley had good food but it had my number one restaurant pet peeve - sharing plates.  For 10 people, I don’t think it worked out that well.  However they did have a Sancerre on their wine list so I did enjoy that!

Spotted this on the street.  It was fitting because we talked about things that we value, and authenticity is at the top of my list.

Q had an extra tball practice on Wednesday night at Earlscourt Park.  E and I listened to a podcast while we were there.  I enjoyed being in the park with so many things going on - soccer games and practices, splash pad, and people walking through.

I let the kids spend their money to buy some Lego at Walmart on Thursday.  We do not need any more Lego but they have money to spend and it gave them something to do that they enjoyed.

However, I was not exactly pleased with the mess left behind when I got back from golf on Thursday.

I will be away next week and not posting anything, but you can always check in with me on instagram @smacto

Friday Favourites

Happy Friday!! Our kids were away this week (Q at camp and E at a friend's cottage).

Dave and I went golfing on Monday after work for 9 holes. It was a lovely evening.

Q had brought home some basil and a sunflower that he planted at school.  I finally got out to Home Depot to buy pots for them.  I was also trying to save the dead thyme and parsley but I think they are lost causes!  Too much water when we first put them out.

I took my own advice and made this zucchini pasta from Smitten Kitchen.  It is so delicious.

Dave and I went to a Dave Matthews Band concert on Tuesday night at Budweiser Stage.  We don't go to many concerts but I had picked up these tickets for Dave's birthday.  He saw DMB back in university so I thought it would be fun to go together.  We biked down and settled in on the lawn with our blanket.

Concerts are great for people watching and the Bud stage is a fun place to be in the summertime.

I had a meeting downtown on Wednesday at the Sheraton.  I love a hotel lobby and worked from there for a little bit before and after the meeting.

Then I walked west on Queen St. to meet up with some friends at Oyster Boy. I haven't been in the Trinity Bellwoods area for awhile, there are some really cute shops there. I enjoyed my walk and dinner!

Dave and I caught up on some of our shows this week.  E left Cuddly Pal behind while he was away, so we texted this photo while we were sitting on the couch.  It looks threatening, but Cuddly Pal is just saying hi!

I golfed again on Thursday for Ladies Night.

I am excited to pick up Q from camp tomorrow! I have been thinking about those dear girls at Camp Mystic in Texas all week (and the other campers in that area).  You drop your kids off at camp and expect them to be safe so it was hard to hear those stories last weekend. I'm also excited to masquerade as a Muskoka Cottager when we stop into Bala for lunch on our way home.

Friday Favourites

It's the last day of school! And it was a busy week! Phew!

On Monday E and his friends skipped school to go to Canada's Wonderland for the day.  It was so hot, about 42 degrees Celsius, and the waterpark wasn't open!!  They wore their hats and sunscreen, filled up their water bottles multiple times, and sought out the log ride and stood on the bridge going over the ride where they could get splashed every once in awhile.  They survived the day :) To cap off the day, the boys went to The Keg for dinner and most of the parents tagged along too. We toasted our Grade 8 graduates.

(Q got to tag along with the big boys too)

We golfed as a family on Tuesday for the first time this year.  I was supposed to go to a new members’ clinic but they canceled it for the heat, and the boys were already planning to golf so I was able to join them.  It was hot but we had a good time.

(Back 9 start)

My office is closing as of the end of this month.  Not to worry, operations continue, and we will be moving into a new location the fall.  I walked through this week to make sure everything had been removed properly.

My office.

Last time for this view.

We celebrated E's grade 8 graduation on Wednesday.  He looked really nice in his suit, as did all of the kids.  E received the Music Award, Citizenship Award, and achieved Honour Roll.  We are so proud of him!
He opened up a few grad gifts on Tuesday evening.

Crossing the grad stage.

Here is a compilation of E's first day of school from his 10 years at this school.  What a sweet little 3 year old that started Junior Kindergarten!  He was always happy to go back to school.

We are off to a t-ball tournament this weekend! Let's go High Park!!

Friday Favourites

FRIDAY!! And the summer weather is here in Toronto, we have had some good sunny days, and our classic high humidity thundershower day on Wednesday.

I worked from home all week.  I like to work outside in the morning, it's so nice to be in the fresh air listening to the birds in the background (and some construction so not completely idyllic).

E and I golfed on Tuesday.  It was not a great round for me at all, I think I hit two good drives the whole night.  But I have now golfed enough to have a handicap so that was a plus.

And we of course had dinner on the patio afterwards and enjoyed this view.

E is on his Grade 8 Grad trip this week at Blue Mountain.  They spend two nights and get a Play All Day pass to enjoy the ropes course, mini golf, and this rollercoaster thing. So fun!!
(not my photo)

Q's tball rep coach put together a little work out for the team and asked that they do it on Tuesdays and Thursdays (and at their practice). Dave had him do it on Tuesday before house league practice, and I did it with him on Thursday morning.

In case you missed it, I blogged about my trip to Paris last week and this week, you can check out the posts here:
