Happy Friday!! 

I was in Timmins this week for work. Our company is celebrating a milestone anniversary so we were having a party.  I was on the planning committee so we had lots to do the week of the party to get ready, and we did the usual back and forth of will there be too many people, not enough, too many, but then it was the perfect number in the end. 

I had a bit of an adventure getting there, which is always the way it seems.  First flight cancelled so needed to rebook and get to a different airport.  I am loving this dress for travelling. I only needed to put my sweater on at the end of the flight. 

The work party was held outside in our parking lots so the maintenance facility brought over some shiny new units - a scoop and a haulage truck.

These machines are big, but are also short because they need to travel in underground mines.  Surface mining equipment is way bigger.

We were so lucky to have this beautiful day and like I said, we had the perfect amount of attendees. 

Meanwhile Dave and the boys went to a Blue Jays game with Q's tball team.  If you zoom in you can see where their team was noted on the big screen (High Park Tball Yankees).

Summer Holidays - Part 3

This is the last post of our summer holiday, you can check out Part 1 here and Part 2 here. 

We finally got a nice day of weather on Thursday and so we went golfing!  This is the course where I learned to golf, however there was no muscle memory and I didn't play that well, but it was so nice to be back there and remember when I was a junior golfer.

The forest fires that happened last year came right up to the golf course.  It was interesting to see the damage, and E found a half burned golf ball.  

When we got home it was time for a swim, finally!

And then it was time for Aperol and crib on the back deck.

And lobster for supper :)

After supper we walked over to Islands Park to see my friend and her family that were camping there for a couple of days.  They have a dog and the boys liked playing with him.

My first friend from when we moved to Shelburne when I was four.

We had another grey day on Friday so we decided to walk down by the waterfront.  We stopped in at the barrel factory first.

It was raining after that so we spent the afternoon inside, watching the Olympics (including the 4x100 relay! so exciting !!). Later in the afternoon we went to Boxing Rock Brewing and met a friend and her family.

On Saturday morning we packed up and drove to Halifax.  Keeping consistent with the weather, it was grey with rain in the forecast.  We took our chances and walked along the waterfront. 

We stopped in at The Halifax Beer Garden for something to eat.

And the Bluenose II was there so we got to go aboard.

One week of sailing camp and he has big dreams, haha.

It did start raining on our way back to the car so Dave ran back and the rest of us waited under shelter.

Back to my aunt's house for some playtime before dinner.

The restaurant that I worked out while I was in university is closing this fall.  They were just renting the property from the city and the city has plans for redevelopment so the lease was not being renewed.  This was a good opportunity for the owner to retire so that's that for Salty's.  I have so many memories of this place - I was there on 9/11 and I'll never forget walking in for my shift and hostess saying "did you hear what happened in New York?" and leading me to the television by the bar.  I was there the night before Hurricane Juan when we didn't really know how bad it was going to be and the most we did to prepare was move the tables and chairs to the back of the patio.  Mira Sorvino and Rob Lowe ate there (on separate occasions).  I learned how to appreciate wine, carry four hot plates, and deal with any sort of customer.  It is the end of an era.

We were flying home the next day but we had lots of time to spend some family time at my cousin's house in Porter's Lake.

And we got to go for a swim!

At the airport we ran into our friends who had been at their cottage in Yarmouth.  We knew they were there and had wanted to see them but it hadn't worked out for a visit.  Bonus to hang out with them before our flight home.

It's always so nice to be in Nova Scotia (even if the main topic of conversation is everyone's heat pump!! Haha!! If you know you know.)
