On the holiday Monday we drove home from our cottage weekend with friends, quickly repacked our bags and then went to the airport to fly to Nova Scotia. We just got new credit cards that give us Maple Leaf Lounge access. We fancy now, haha.
Excited to go on a plane.
We landed in Halifax, picked up our rental car and drove to Shelburne.
This is the view out to the Roseway River. A bit grey and wet on our first day, but warm.
We decided to drive to Lockeport for lunch and to visit the beach. It's like this scene was set up just for photo, complete with the ocean smell, but it's all real.
Spotting crabs.
I love a beach, even in the rain (although it didn't really rain while we were out there).
That water is cold! But we still waded in.
Finding lots of pretty mussel shells
Some midday ice cream cones when we got home.
And some Yahtzee.
That night was the Exhibition Parade, so we went to my friend's house that is on the main route.
We walked home and saw some deer.
Can you see it?
Crib and chips when we got home.
The next morning was grey but not raining so we went for a walk to Islands Park.
And then we went to the Exhibition. This used to be a pretty big deal when I was a kid - we would always go for opening night and then I would go with friends on bracelet day when we would ride all the midway rides, and I'd make sure to get a lime snow cone and some French fries. I even participated in the Queen Pageant one year. Now, there is not as much going on, and the only rides are kiddie rides.
But we spent the afternoon watching the ox haul, horse pull, and barrel racing, and it was very entertaining.
We did get some French fries (but no snow cone).
The weather had cleared up so we went down to the water to play.
I'll finish up our trip photos tomorrow.
Oh this looks like such a great trip! Is the "exhibition" the same thing as the state/county fair here in the US? It seems really similar! This year we went to the Ohio State Fair and it was probably the highlight of our summer!
