Sharing Our Lives - Reading Habits

Happy Monday! Thank you for joining us today where we Share our Lives with you.  My co-hosts are: AdrienneDaraJen, and Joanne.  We are here on the second Monday of each month.  If you have a blog and posted on this topic, please link up with us below.

Today we are sharing our habits for making time for reading.  This is ironic for this month's post since I haven't ready anything in the last few weeks, not since the end of September.  I can't really explain why, I finished a good book, and got a couple of new things from the library but couldn't get into the first book I picked up and they were overdue so I just took them back.  I love reading but I suppose it's good to take a break from different things at times.  I have a few books in my notes that I will get to soon.

I only read real paper books; I do not do audiobooks and I don't have an e-reader.  If I used these latter two media then I'm sure I would be able to get find more opportunities to read, but for me, it's less about the speed at which I can get through it, and more about enjoying the time spent reading and holding a real book is part of that.

I read on the subway on my way to and from work.  This is another reason why I haven't been reading as much since I've been working at home.  This is dedicated time when I can't do much else while I'm sitting there. I know that not everyone has the opportunity to take public transit on a regular basis.

That's pretty much the only time I read unless I love the book so much I have a hard time putting it down. In that case I will read while I'm eating my lunch, and then forgo TV and social media scrolling in favour of reading.

If anyone has any good book suggestions of things they have read lately, let me know in the comments.

  1. It is so interesting to read about people's reading habits. When I read a lot I always found it so hard to get into a new book after finishing a really good one.

  2. Have you read The Correspondent? That's one of my favorites for the year.

  3. I definitely go through periods where books just don't hold much appeal and I can't get into them. I figure I'll find my way back to them eventually when that happens.
