March Break Recap - French Alps Pt. 2

Okay, last post of our March Break today. You can see the rest here - Brussels Part 1, Brussels Part 2 and Train, and French Alps Part 1.

On our third day of skiing our first destination was Creux, a nice cruisy blue on the Courchvel side.  We had some great runs in the morning and then sought out Les Verdons for lunch. The wind had picked up and the sky had clouded over so an outdoor lunch wasn't appealing and we decided to go inside to the restaurant.

This is a place where they want all four people to order entrees, but the boys were going to share a pizza. Our waiter kindly waived the rule.

I enjoyed this delicious carbonara pasta, the best thing for a colder day on the slopes. And I ordered the Verdon Spritz that has grapefruit.

And have had this amazing tartare.

Then we took the Saulire Tram to the top. 

It was still quite windy and we saw some lifts were closing, plus visibility was poor, so we decided to cut our day short and go back to our chalet. 

Down in the valley it was nice and clear so after a bit of a rest we decided to explore the town

We looked around at the ski shops, and Dave bought a new hat. The kids got crepes for a snack.

We took the bus back up the hill.  We saw the kids from the Heights again, it's funny how you just know someone is from Toronto.

Another easy dinner at our place, and then settling in for a fire and movie.

Thursday was another beautiful day. We went back over to Creux and then hung out on the Courchevel side again all day.  We really liked it over there and even rode the button lift, a new experience for all of us.

We stayed in this area after lunch and the snow was pretty great.

The sunshine called for another day at Folie Douce.  This time we got a prime seat right in the middle

The boys enjoyed some desserts.

The show was just getting started, the main singer came right by us.

And then Q got pulled up on the table to dance with this guy!  Dancing on the tables at Folie Douce, has his life peaked at age 9?! haha

Dave was just taking a photo of the mountains, this dancer just got in the way, haha.

Then we went home and went to dinner at Igloo again.

Our last day of skiing. Our destination was Les Menuire, and Pointe de la Masse.

We found a fun terrain park and the boys did some jumps.

We lunched at La Bouche a Oreille in these classic sun chairs.

A couple of more runs and we found our way back home. We got off the slopes without anyone getting lost or injured, check, check!

It was Dave's birthday that day so we found him a little ice cream cake at the grocery store.  

We packed up and got ready to leave. 

We had quite the travel day on Saturday - starting at 6:00 am we were picked up by our driver to take us the 2 hour drive to the Lyon airport.  Then we boarded our first flight to Frankfurt.  

From there we went to Heathrow in London, and then we got our last flight to Toronto. We landed around 10:00 pm EST and got home by midnight (which felt like 5:00 am to us). We were glad we had booked our trip to return on the Saturday so we had a day to get sorted before heading back to work and school.  All of our bags made it home with us too, which was actually a surprise since the ticket agent in Lyon had said there wouldn't be enough room for our ski bag and it would have to follow us the next day. Glad they made space for it! Even though Air Canada does a good job with the baggage tracking now, since we were on Lufthansa as well, it was helpful to have our AirTags so we knew that things were coming along with us.
