Sharing our Lives - Saving Time on Chores

Happy Monday! Thank you for joining us today where we Share our Lives with you.  My co-hosts are: AdrienneDaraJen, and Joanne.  We are here on the second Monday of each month.  If you have a blog and posted on this topic, please link up with us below.

Today's topic is saving time on chores.  Unfortunately I have very little offer on this topic! You could say that my tip for saving time on chores is to just not do them! Haha.  Our house is clean enough but it is never 100% clean, there is always something that needs to be done.  Seriously, what I can offer is this:

Do your dishes as you prepare the food.  Fill the sink with soapy water before you start and then you can be cleaning up as you go and there is less to do when the meal is over.

Get a cordless vacuum.  Put it somewhere where it is easy to grab.  Then you can do a quick vacuum anytime.  We have two chargers for our cordless Dyson but we also have a hook on the main floor where we can hang it in between chargers. It takes little time to do a few passes after a meal.

Order groceries for pick up or delivery.  I do like going to the grocery store and browsing around but I don't often have a lot of time for that.  Putting in the order is pretty quick and picking it up is even easier because my husband usually goes when he picks up Q from school!

Do everyone's laundry separately.  No need for sorting and then the clean folded basket can go back into the persons' room and they can put it away.

That's all I have for you today, but I'll be looking forward to seeing what other tips you have!

Check out our topics for the rest of the year.

  1. I absolutely agree on the cordless vacuum. We have a Dyson and we don't even bring our big vacuum upstairs at all. We just use the Dyson. (We don't have carpet except in our basement.)

  2. I wish it worked to just not do chores! LOL Can you believe I still have never ordered groceries for pick-up? I'm sure it would save me time - and probably money - to order in the app and just pick it all up on my way home from work, but I'm worried that I'd spend too much time in the app. Probably just the first couple times I do it, right? That is a great tip - thanks!

  3. I should do everyone's laundry separately! But each person doesn't have enough for a full load unless I wait longer in between and then we'd need more clothes...

  4. Yes! I LOVE our cordless vacuum! I definitely find doing everyone's laundry separately is such a HUGE time saver too.

  5. I love that other people are keeping it real and admitting their house isn't 100% clean. There's never enough time in the day to get every job done!
I have just started doing my dishes as I prepare food and have learned it is a game changer!
Ohh! Doing everyone's laundry separately is just genius! Why have I not thought of that before. I have a pile ready to be sorted and it's all mixed up. I need to try this!

  6. I need a cordless vacuum. We have a smaller shark stick vacuum but it is corded and the cord is never long enough and gets tangled.
