Friday Favourites

Linking up with AndreaErika, and Narci for Friday Favourites.

Today I'm sharing my favourite things to bring on a trip, my must-haves.  We are headed to Barcelona tonight for a week.  We are bringing our 3 year old (soon to be 4). This is his first trip to Europe, and our first family trip in a long time.  We are excited!

Books.
I like light, easy reads for when I am on vacation.  I picked Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah and The Castaways by Elin Hilderbrand.  I know people love an e-reader but I am sticking with actual books. Since I only bring one or two with me, it isn't a big deal to carry a few paperbacks.  I tried to get some library books but my branch didn't have many choices that weren't hardcover, so I bought these instead.  Bonus for me is that I had a gift card to use, so these were free!

Passport and Nexus Pass.
I got this fancy new holder for my passport and my Nexus pass fits into a little slot inside.  The one I got is no longer available, but here is a link to the one we got for E.

Travel shampoo and conditioner.
I don't like relying on the products in the hotel, they aren't usually that great.  I have the travel size for the Lustre Fortifying Shampoo and Fortifying Creme Conditioner from Arbonne.  These are available only as special purchase with purchase.  This time since we've rented a place on Airbnb, I'm not even sure if they will supply toiletries.

I got this idea originally from my friend Cindy many years ago, and since then I have never been without them for a trip.  They are great for freshening up on the plane, as well as cleaning your face and feet after walking around a dusty city all day.

Crossbody bag with a zipper.
This one is from Stella and Dot.  It can be worn full size, folded over, or carried as a clutch. We are always vigilant when travelling in other countries, but having a cross body bag with a zipper makes me feel more secure.

Large scarf.
This scarf is also from Stella and Dot.  It is very soft and bright.  This is useful on the plane as a blanket or pillow, a fashion accessory, a shawl, or even a towel for the beach.

What are your must-haves for travelling?

I will be taking a break from blogging for the week, but I will be posting photos of our trip on Facebook and Instagram. If you don't know me personally, and therefore not a Facebook friend, make sure you follow me on Instagram @smacto
