Camping Recap - The Pinery

We had a great weekend camping at the Pinery Provincial Park.  We were a little camping fatigued after three previous trips this summer, but we had such a good time I'm glad we kept this fourth trip.  We took Thursday and Friday off work and set out to the campground mid-morning on Thursday.

Set up at Site 995 in the Burley Campground.  This was our best site so far, lots of room for our tent.

We were meeting friends for the weekend so after we unpacked we headed to the beach with them before supper.  The waves were big and were had fun jumping in them for awhile.  Then some hammock time while I cooked dinner.

Real life photo.

Q was ready for the fire.

It was a little chilly that night and in the morning, but the rest of the trip was warmer.
Hot drinks and sugar cereal to start the morning (oatmeal for me though).

And we made a fire to take the chill off.

We biked down to the store to get milk which took a bit longer than we thought, but Q hung in there.  We rewarded them with some candy and new park t-shirts.

Looking for some turtles.

We had a quick lunch and then headed to the beach for the afternoon.  Not as wavy so a little easier to swim.

We finally tore ourselves away from the beach and drove to the store to get ice cream cones.

Can't resist a photo of the light through the trees.

Tacos for supper.

On Saturday morning we made another fire during our breakfast

We had pancakes and Q made this character with his food.

We went on a little hike after breakfast.

We spent the rest of the afternoon at the beach with our friends, another beautiful day (although with little to no wind the beach flies were out in full force!).

Q was a bit tired when we got back to our site for supper.

On our last morning we ate up our leftover food and had another fire before starting to pack up.

We got packed up in record time and got to the beach around 11:00. The waves were big so we all had fun playing in them.

We have been camping with this family for many years, it is fun to see the kids grow up through the photos.  We grabbed some lunch and ice cream cones at the store before hitting the road for home.

It was an easy drive back and we were home around 5:30, within the hour we had unpacked the car, the kids were bathed, and we had ordered pizza.  We watched Black Widow and the recorded F1 race before going to bed way too late.

On Monday, Labour Day, I took the boys to the Eaton Centre for some back to school and wedding clothes shopping.  We enjoyed our food court lunch and we got the things were looking for!

The kids start back to school on Thursday and like many people, although we love all of the summer things, we are looking forward to a routine of sorts.
