Marriage Survey Questions

I read Lauren's post a few month's ago that she did for Valentine's Day and I thought it would be a good post for Dave's and my anniversary, which is today!  We got married in 2009, so that means we are celebrating (quick math) our 13th anniversary!

How'd you meet? Through mutual friends.

First date? The Brier in Halifax. (This is the men's national curling event in Canada.) My grandparents had tickets to the entire week and they weren't going one night. Dave was the only person I knew that liked curling so I invited him along.

How long have you been together? 19 years

Married or not? Yes, 13 years today

Age difference? Just less than three months.

Who was interested first? Good question. Maybe me?

Taller? Dave

Who said I love you first? Me

Most impatient? Dave

Most sensitive? Dave

Loudest? Dave

Most stubborn? Dave

Falls asleep first? Me.

Cooks better? Me. Although Dave is better with yeast and makes better pizza dough and cinnamon buns (I suppose that qualifies as "baking" though).

Better morning person? Me

Better driver? Both of will say that we think we are the better driver.  We are both good. I have a harder time driving in the dark, especially if it's raining or snowing so Dave is better to drive then.

Most competitive? Dave

Funniest?  I am the funniest, even though everyone thinks Dave is.  Often I will make a joke under my breath and then Dave will repeat it louder so people hear it and then they laugh.  He certainly has his own material, but I'm doing this survey so I'm going to give myself the edge.

Where do you eat out most as a couple? We don't really have a couple's spot since we don't go out that much.

Who is more social? Dave

Who is a neat freak? Dave

Where was your first kiss? At a friend's party.

How long did it take to get serious? Not long.

Who's indecisive? I think the fact that I had a hard time answering this is proof that it's me.  Although once I make up my mind about something, I am usually happy about my choice, whereas Dave tends to second guess and wonder if he should have done something different.

Who spends more? We probably both spend the same, but Dave definitely keeps track better than I do.

Who is the first one to admit they are wrong? Me

Has more tattoos? Neither of us have any.

Who sings better? Me, even if the casting vote is only that I actually know the lyrics.

Who hogs the remote? We both prefer when Dave does the fast forwarding on recorded shows and he tends to adjust the volume better, so he's usually got it, but not "hogging" it.

Did you go to the same high school? No

Where is the furthest you have ever travelled? I thought it was either Rome or Honolulu, and the difference between the two was a couple of hundred kilometres with Rome taking the slight lead.

Who drives when you're going somewhere together? We usually share driving, it's not always one or the other.  When we go skiing or camping, one of us usually drives there and the other person drives home.

Friday Favourites

Happy Friday! For those of you in Canada, happy long weekend! Doesn't everyone just love a long weekend, the best! And this is the official kick off to summer and so we will see if the weather cooperates!

I got another new watch strap, lucky me! Dave ordered it for Mother's Day but it didn't arrive on time.  It's this braided loop and it's nice to change it up.

Dave was in Chicago for a few days this week.  We missed him, but he had lots of fun at a Cubs game and river cruise.  Same as what I did when I was there in 2018.  And he brought me some Garrett Popcorn :) If you know, you know.

Q started soccer this week and had a great time running around.  It was chilly on Tuesday though! The parents were all freezing on the sidelines.

E had baseball on Monday night.  I got to chat with a few other moms and we had a great time.

Ice cream afterwards :)

Q actually had batting practice at t-ball this week.

My mom was in town this week and helped with getting the kids to and from school and making dinner.  We did go out on Wednesday night though.

I posted about my favourite drinks to order when I go out yesterday.  I try not to drink alcohol during the week, but with my mom here I couldn't resist some rose and even an Aperol Spritz when I got home after work on Thursday.

My Blue Jays wine glass got into the dishwasher without me know about it and it didn't make it.  Good thing we're going to the Blue Jays on Sunday so I can get a replacement.

Go-to Drinks

Sunny warm weather is here, so doesn't that call for a drink on the patio?  Sitting on a patio is on of my favourite things, and it is usually made better with a drink of some sort.  So what am I ordering?

Back in 2015, I posted about my restaurant favourites, things that I always order when I'm out at a restaurant.  Occasionally I will try something new, but I typically stick to what I like.

By type of drink:

Beer - Always a draught beer when I'm at a restaurant.  I can always have a can or bottle at home.  Something that has less than 5.5% alcohol, and usually a blonde or cream ale.  Bonus if they have nitro draught, which is less bubbly.

Wine - If there is a Sauvignon Blanc on the list, I'll take that, otherwise a Pinot Grigio.  If my dining companions are all drinking red wine, I am happy to share in their bottle, but by the glass, I prefer white.

Cocktails - Usually gin or whisky based, not a big fan of vodka.  Dave and I like to pick a cocktail out for the other person and then surprise them with the choice.  We are pretty good at spotting ones the other would like.

Cider - Very rarely

Coolers - Never

By location:

Golf Course - Coors Banquet in a can

Golf Club Patio (where Dave is a member) - Whispering Angel Rose (hoping they have it again this year)

Mexican Restaurant - Lime Margarita on the Rocks

Summer Patio Cocktail - Mojito

Lunchtime - Guinness Draught

Wedding/Catered Affair - Martini with olives

Baseball Game - Draught Beer

Brunch - Mimosa, but light on the orange juice

Cheers!

Weekend Recap

We had a lovely weekend filled with hot weather.  Dave took the boys to the driving range at the golf club on Friday after school.  Meanwhile I stayed home a did a bit of tidying up, and then that night we watched the Blue Jays game.

Up early on Saturday morning.  Q had ball hockey and E had baseball.

Q and I walked up to the library after ball hockey while we waited for Dave and E to come and pick us up.

Dave golfed in the afternoon and I went grocery shopping with the boys and then tackled the fun job of switching out my winter clothes for summer clothes.  I got rid of a bunch of things that were just old and worn.  Some I threw out and some I put aside to donate. Then E had Junior Opening Day at the golf club.  There are four pre-juniors so they all played together.

Q and I had dropped him off and then I got McDonalds for Q's dinner.  We went to the playground for a little bit between eating and then getting ready for the hockey game.

Dave waited around for E after his round.

We had some people over to watch the hockey game (RIP Leafs) on the projector in the backyard.  It was great to have people over, and we wished it was a better outcome for the game.

On Sunday morning Dave went for a run and then my mom arrived so we picked her up at the airport.  E was tired after a late night on Saturday.

My mom and I went to look for some flower baskets.  We went to three places and ended up getting what I wanted at the closest store, so we should have just gone there in the first place! I will remember that next year.

Dave ran some baseball practice at the park in the afternoon for the boys.

Supper outside.

Friday Favourites

I have an action packed Friday Favourites today, it was a busy week!

First, I got a new Apple watch band for Mother's Day, so then I needed a new watch face to go with it.

I had a colonoscopy on Tuesday. Nothing of concern, just a screening since we have some family history of colon cancer. (All clear by the way.)  If you are considering getting one, or need to, let me know if you have any questions, I'm sure I can put your mind at ease.

Q lost his first tooth this week! He unfortunately didn't find it on the grounds after it fell out, but the Tooth Fairy still left him some money.  Q looks like Pig Pen from the Peanuts when he gets home from school, proper thing, but our bath times are more frequent now.

I worked outside on Wednesday for the first time this Spring, it was lovely! I only went inside because my computer was dying.
(After I took this photo I realized I needed to clean my screen.)

Supper out on Wednesday on the patio at The Swan.
Portrait mode for everyone.

I biked to work on Thursday again.  I had my new pannier attached and it was great!

Q had his first session of T-ball this week.  E and I showed up for the end of practice.  Dave said Q was working hard. They don't play an actual game just try out a bunch of stations.

Enjoy the weekend!!
