Show and Tell Tuesday

Linking up with Andrea at Momfessionals for Show and Tell Tuesday.

Today's theme is 'Your most embarrassing moment'.   Setting aside those embarrassing moments from university that all mostly include drinking, when I think of times I've been embarrassed, they all relate to falling.  I can still remember one time in high school when I fell on the stairs between classes one day when the hall was full.  It wasn't even that bad of a fall, I just sort of tripped up the stairs and dropped my books.  But it's funny that I still remember it.

Another time I was running in the gym before gym class started.  I was going to shut the side door because it was raining and kind of cold.  I slipped on some water and slipped out the door and cut my leg open.  I had to get stitches.  I was embarrassed because I think I panicked when I saw the cut and probably made too much of a big deal out of it.

Another time I was rollerblading when I lived in Halifax and wiped out on the corner of Spring Garden Road and South Park Street (the corner by the Lord Nelson Hotel if you want to be specific).  This is probably one of the busiest intersections in Halifax for pedestrians and a lot of people saw me fall and then asked if I was okay.

At that same crossroads, but on the opposite corner, I once wiped out while running.  I remember sort of flying through the air and I scraped my knee. I hopped right back up and kept running.  Not sure if anyone saw me or not but I felt pretty clumsy.

If I'm being honest I'll tell you that I actually spend a lot of my effort, probably to a fault, making sure I don't embarrass myself.  I sometimes pretend I know what people are talking about just so I don't get embarrassed that I don't know what they're saying.  At the same time I try not to take myself too seriously so I can laugh off an embarrassment so it doesn't really bother me.

If I could remember this night I might be embarrassed by it.
