Weekend Recap

We enjoyed a beautiful weekend!  Our friend Cindy arrived on Thursday night and was our first guest in our new guest room.  Dave has worked hard to get it ready in time for her visit and it ended up looking really nice!

On Friday afternoon, Cindy and I went downtown to catch the Blue Jays game.  We needed something to eat so we stopped by the outdoor market at Union Station.  They have all kinds of great food stalls, it was hard to decide.  I ended up getting the snow crab fries with garlic aioli and Cindy got a burger from the Burger's Priest stall.  It is a fun atmosphere and I will definitely try to get back down there before the summer is over.

I waited for Cindy while she bought a new hat and then we went inside to our seats.  We were down the first base line a few rows up from the field.  I would definitely sit there again; no foul balls came our way though.  Even better, the Jays won!

While we were at the game, Dave and E hit up the splash pad, the barber and then The Works for supper.

On Saturday morning, I got up early and picked up some groceries and then Cindy and I went to the outlets in Halton Hills.  Dave and E went to a birthday party with a Star Wars Lego theme!

We got a few things, but we didn't do too much damage

In the afternoon, I got ready for our supper guests that were coming over that night.  I made beer butt chicken again, because it worked so well for our last dinner party, a sweet potato salad, and these lemon tarts.  Although it rained before supper so we weren't able to eat outside, it cleared up afterwards and we got to enjoy the evening on our patio.

On Sunday morning, we had our version of Breakfast at Wimbledon (pancakes with fresh berries and whipped cream) to watch Milos Raonic in the gentlemen's final against Andy Murray.  It was a disappointing loss but we were proud to see him in his first grand slam final (and first grand slam final for a Canadian man at that); he is the future of this sport.

E wanted me to take a photo of his plate too, mid-meal.

After the match ended, we met Cindy's friend Kate on Roncesvalles to get some lunch.  We ate at The Westerly, a place I've been wanting to go for awhile, and it was very tasty.  After that we walked down the street and stopped in at some fun shops.

When we got home, I set up E's pool in the front yard and weeded the garden.  Then it was time to take Cindy to the airport.  While I was gone, Dave and E went for a bike ride/run by the river.  We were tired that night, but got to bed at a decent hour.

Fun weekend!!
