Friday Favourites

We had a busy week getting ready for our Annual Drop-in Party happening this weekend.  I am slightly nervous about having everyone over since Covid is not going away (!) but it's really just about making sure people feel comfortable being here (we are fine with it). We have asked all of the over 12 crowd to be fully vaccinated, people can go inside and out, and masks are encouraged.  I know it isn't perfect, but I think we are at a place where a party is a welcome distraction and honestly I'm just over it! We will have a smaller crowd than usual, but no less cheer will be spread :)

I made several kinds of cookies (with contributions from my mom and Dave's mom) including these peppermint cookies.

Aren't these just the cutest mugs?! I know we have enough mugs in our house, including many Christmas ones, but I could not resist buying these at Loblaws this week.

E did his piano recital piece this week for the virtual recital.  I only got this photo because I took a picture instead of switching to the video before he got started.  It only took two takes and he did a great job.

I picked up my first Starbucks drink of the season in a holiday cup.  I got a cinnamon dolce latte with almond milk. Delicious!

I worked out with my my old fitness studio this week with people in person for the first time in a loooooong time.  It felt good to be back.  (I say "old" only because I let my membership lapse a few months ago and did more Peloton workouts instead.)  But I really liked being back there so in the new year I will try to incorporate one class a week into my routine.
(This is an old post-workout photo because I didn't get one this time.)

For those of you who don't drink dairy, or who, like me, don't regularly drink milk and therefore can't imagine drinking egg nog, I heard this Oat Nog was a nice treat.  I bought some last week but haven't tried it yet.  I'll let you know, but check it out if you're into non-dairy beverages.

It was my plan to do a home tour of our Christmas decorations this week but I prioritized working out instead of a photo shoot so you'll have to wait until next week :)  Meanwhile, here is our Playmobil Nativity Set.

This is your annual reminder to listen to Matt Andersen's Christmas Album - O Holy Night, enough said.

Stay well everyone!  Happy Friday :)

Linking up with Andrea and Erika for Friday Favourites.

  1. I would totally host your party under those conditions too, despite what is happening. It's the non-vaccinated people who are driving this wave and yes, we all need a bit of normalcy. Have so much fun!!!

  2. Oh, sweet! I love Matt Andersen and had no idea he had a Christmas album. Thanks for recommending it. We have seen him live a few times and he always impresses.
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow (likely around 5:30 as we have a birthday before then). Oh, I finally got your Christmas card on Monday. Looks great, especially your wind-blown hair! If you’re interested, I found oat milk for $2.50 at Dollarama.

  4. My favourite oatmilk is the Suzie's brand from Costco. Just 2 ingredients (oats and water) and I find it to be absolutely delicious!

I wish other people in my house loved candy canes. My husband LOATHES them and hates anything with candy cane in it. I might make 1/2 a batch of these cookies...but then I'd be the one who wanted to eat them all?! They do look so, so good. I guess I could share them with friends. I actually have Chapmans peppermint ice cream sandwiches on my list to buy at the grocery store today, but I might forgo and just make your cookies instead.

Party sounds fun. We're invited to a little gathering next week. A family who moved from Ontario mid-pandemic is trying to meet people and are hosting a few families next Sunday. It feels like...it's been a long time since something like this!
