Not Just a Mom

Today is our last instalment of 2021's Not Just A Mom Link Up. At the bottom you can see the plans for next year and visit the other people who have linked up this month.  This year we looked at:

This month we are talking about our Favourite Holiday Movies.  I love all of the same movies that you do, probably.  I am therefore dividing my favourites into three categories:

Crowd Favourites
Love Actually (Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant are highlights for me)
The Family Stone (We named our son Everett inspired by this movie)
The Holiday (Don't you just want to live in Kate Winslet's cottage? Or Cameron Diaz's LA mansion for that matter)
The Sound of Music (Not technically Christmas but we always watch it around this time of year, and My Favourite Things is a standard bedtime song at our house year round)
The Santa Clause (1 and 2, and maybe 3) (I love a sarcastic Tim Allen)
The Polar Express (Dave always liked this and I've come to love it too)
Home Alone (My kids are the right age for these now)
White Christmas (This one always reminds me of my grandparents)
Elf (Now a classic)

Obscure Favourites
A Madea Christmas (This is surprisingly entertaining, it also has Larry the Cable Guy in it, A1)
One Magic Christmas (This is old but I remember watching it a long time ago, it's now on Disney Plus and was filmed in Ontario)
Ernest Saves Christmas (My mom and I always watched this when I was little)
The Bells of Saint Mary's (not really a Christmas movie but it has a couple of Christmas scenes)
Bad Santa (Not for children but good, haven't seen it for a few years though)

New Family Favourites
The Grinch (new animated)
Klaus
The Christmas Chronicles
Arthur Christmas
Angela's Christmas

And then ones that I don't like that everyone else seems to like:
Hallmark Christmas Specials
A Christmas Story
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
It's a Wonderful Life

Am I missing anything?!

Enjoy the remaining weeks of 2021 and see you back here next year!

Check out what we will be doing next year.  If you have a blog you can use our graphics and link up on the second Monday of each month.

  3. I haven't seen many of these but Home Alone is always a good choice.

  4. I LOVE Christmas movies. I also watched Ernest Saves Christmas with my parents growing up; I have to admit I was a bit disappointed when I watched it last year with the kids. It just didn't seem as funny to me as an adult?
We love Elf, Home Alone, and if I only watch one Christmas movie it must be White Christmas.
I know lots of people like to watch Little Women this time of year and A Christmas Carol. We went to see the Muppets Christmas Carol yesterday and it was actually my first time ever seeing it (it aligned nicely with the fact I'm reading the actual Charles Dickens novella to my kids right now).

    1. Madea is one of those movies that is just ridiculous so you just need to appreciate it for what it is. I like to watch it when wrapping gifts.

  6. I LOVE The Sound of Music but for some reason in our family we associate that more with fall than with Christmas. My mom used to let us stay up late and watch it every year growing up whenever they aired it on TV.
