I went out with two good friends from high school this week. We went to Henderson for a beer (and then were "kicked out" by the speaker on the topic of "pantry as a site of preservation and resistance", not sure what it was all about, but it wasn't our crowd). Then we moved on to the Drake Commissary. Always a treat to hang out with these ladies and the food and drink were superb. (photo credits to Kirsten and Janna)
Then Janna and I took photos of each other across the platform. East vs. West (as if it's really a competition)
E started indoor soccer this week. I volunteered to be the convenor and Dave and I are splitting coaching duties for his team. Our team was small but mighty this week but they are all good kids and we scored a few goals. They also had so much fun, which is the point of course.
I picked up some new mascara last week and was pleasantly surprised that Benefit makes brown mascara now. I used to always buy the brown shade but when I moved to Benefit I was stuck with just black. It doesn't make a huge difference but since I'm fair the brown is better for me.
I dare you to listen to this song and not smile. Ria Mae is from Halifax (and a former co-worker of mine at Saltys #bestfriends) and she is so good. This song was the last song at my workout last night and it really got me through the last few minutes of class.
As a way to stave off a cold I've been enjoying Hot Lemon Drink (with a little Irish whiskey). It's nice to hold a warm drink now that the weather is colder.
We will be remembering our veterans on Remembrance Day this weekend. Wear your poppy, take a few minutes.
