Not Just a Mom - Holiday Shopping

Joining up with the Not Just a Mom Link Up today.  The topic for this month is Shop the Holidays.

I am sort of in between the people who get their shopping done in July and those that are at the stores on Christmas Eve.   I often have to mail some gifts so I need to be ready early to send those, but I always seem to be picking up odds and ends until Christmas Day.  My goal is to get all of my wrapping done before Christmas Eve so my day can be spent relaxing and eating :)

I usually do some in store shopping but I don't know if I will do that this year.  I do love the hustle and bustle of the malls, and browsing around for different ideas, as well as checking on the quality of certain things.  I'm not sure I will be venturing into the mall, but I will try to shop locally where I can.  We have lots of nice shops in our neighbourhood and everyone has had a tough year, so I will browse there when I can.  I will also need to order things online too I'm sure.

I have not started shopping yet so I will need to get started soon, although I am planning to keep things a little smaller this year.

I also like to shop for food around the holidays.  We save up our PC Optimum Points all year so we can use them at Christmas for all of the extra treats we get.

I try to buy one or two new ornaments per year, they are a weakness for me.  I will usually get something from the place where we get our Christmas tree, and then if I'm in Indigo or Anthropologie, they always have fun things too.

I get our wrapping paper and tags on Boxing Day if I feel like we are getting low.  And Dollarama always has tissue paper. I prefer to wrap things in paper so I can stack the gifts under the tree, but we do have an abundance of bags too.

  1. I was really inspired to try and shop local, especially this year. Or at least to "shop small." We'll see how I do but I feel like local businesses could really use my support this year.

  3. I am happy to read that so many of us are trying to shop locally this year. It really makes a difference where we spend our money! Thanks for linking up today!

  4. We buy our boys a new ornament each year (typically one that represents something about our year- like Ian's will most likely be car keys since he's getting his license). I too can't seem to pass by the ornament section without buying some!
