Let's Look - Everyday Cleaning

It's time for another installment of the Let's Look Link Up with Shay and Erika.  Today we are talking about how we do "everyday" cleaning.  If you've been reading here for awhile, you will know cleaning is not my strong suit, so "everyday" is a stretch!! Haha.

However we don't live in a sty, so there are things we do each day to keep things under control.

Dishes - We do dishes while cooking so it's pretty easy to finish up dishes when we are done eating.  We usually just let them air dry and then put them away in the morning.  We have a dishwasher so we put things away throughout the day.  There is no set schedule for running the dishwasher, like I know some people do, we just run it when full.

Floors - We have a stick Dyson and that has been a great addition to our everyday cleaning routine - so much better than a broom or getting the corded vacuum out.  We run this around the kitchen at least twice a day.

Tidying - We usually take a run through the house and move things around to where they should be.

Bedrooms - We do not make our beds everyday, and I don't get the kids to do them.  This probably means they will grow up to be delinquents (joking!).  If I'm working from home (which I do on Wednesdays and Fridays) I may go up to make the beds and tidy up the clothes if I have time.

Even though sometimes I get frustrated by the mess that can accumulate but for the most part I try to take it all in stride - our house looks lived in and that's the point! There may be Lego on the floor, a pile of paper airplanes on the counter, clothes on the stairs, a pile of shoes at the door, and toys in the backyard, but I know it won't always be this way and I'll appreciate the mess while I can.  To me, there are bigger things to worry about!

  1. Yeah I find the kitchen is the one room that seems to need the most work each day between dishes and the counters/floors we do a quick cleaning at least a couple times a day.

  2. I love what you say about one day missing things like lego on the floor. I miss those days!!

  3. You are right about appreciating the mess now! A “too clean” home can be boring. Clearly some fun is being had in your house! Lauren, not Anonymous.

By the way, we made that zucchini pasta and it was GREAT!! We are definitely going to be making it again!
