No one would ask me about my skincare/make up routine, but I enjoy reading posts about what other people are using so I thought I'd share and someone may get an idea for a new product for themselves. Don't worry, I spared you the live video of me applying my make-up, like a true influencer would do ;)
In the morning I will wash my face with a bar of soap, we usually have a bar from Maison Apothecare or something similar. Twice a week I do a scrub with the Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion. After I wash my face, I use Boscia Rosewater Mist Spray and then apply Dr. Brandt Retinol Eye Cream, and Kiehl's Facial Cream.
I let the cream dry a little bit, usually well I do my hair, and then I apply my makeup.
I start with a primer, currently I have the Sephora brand primer but I am looking for recommendations for something different.
I always have dark circles under my eyes, it's just the way it is, although the darkness is reduced when I am well rested and hydrated. (Sidebar, the other day Dave asked E he if had a black eye, but it was just dark circles from staying up too late, I told Dave, "That's just our colouring, we are pale with dark circles."). I cover them up with Urban Decay concealer in Peach.
Then I apply Nars tinted moisturizer in Groenland all over my face. I find it is just as good as a foundation and I don't want anything too heavy.
Next is the Nars setting powder followed by a bronzer. I went to Nordstrom last year and the guy helped me find this one from Laura Mercier in Bronze 02. People apply bronzer in many different ways but the Nordstrom guy told me to pretend I was wearing large sunglasses and then apply it on my cheek bones under the sunglasses, and then across my forehead above the sunglasses. And down the bridge of my nose and on my chin. I use a smaller brush than the one I use for the setting powder.
Next up is eye shadow and mascara. I like the Make Up Forever eye shadow (I have a silver, lavender, and a beige which I think is "Golden Fawn"). They attach with magnets into the universal cases; I dropped the double one the other day and although the magnets popped out, nothing broke and the eye shadow stayed in tact. For mascara I use Benefit mascara in Beyond Brown.
I do not wear lipstick and the most I use is this gloss from Kiehl's.
Ready for the day!
My favourite way to take off my makeup is to sweat it off! I did a cardio class (that kicked my butt!) and there was little to no makeup left when I got home. I did actually wash my face in the shower, and then applied the same spray and creams as above.
What I would like to do someday is to go into the Sephora or Nordstrom and get a tutorial on my makeup and ideas for different products. It's always good to try new things. And I could probably get my eyebrows done, but honestly it has never been a priority for me to spend my money on, and I'm too much of a wimp to pluck them myself (it hurts!! *pout*)
Love reading about your skin care! I love the hour glass primers. Also, youtube has a ton of makeup tutorials
ReplyDeleteI never learned how to apply makeup properly and kind of gave up on it all together when I was eighteen. I wish I knew how to do makeup but it's kind of nice to not have to bother with it.
