Weekend Recap

What a weekend!  It was my birthday on Friday so I woke up to a tableful of gifts and a special breakfast.

I got some lovely presents - sunglasses, shampoo and conditioner, perfume, wine, clothes, and some money and gift cards.

My favourite breakfast.

My mom was still visiting with us, so we went to the mall for lunch (and so I could get my Sephora birthday gift).

I finished up work for the afternoon and did a quick Peloton ride (although I missed out on doing a live ride so no birthday shout out) and then we got dressed up to go out for dinner at the golf club.

Nana Anne and her grandsons.

It had been a little rainy earlier in the day but it was a fine night on the patio.

I posted this on Instagram.

but this was the original with Dave and E's arm reaching for the appetizer.

Birthday cake time when we got home.

Q chose the candles for 41 even though I'm actually 42, isn't he smart?

On Saturday Dave had an early tee time and I headed out to Costco first thing with a friend to pick up supplies for the party we were hosting on Sunday.  Thankfully my mom was able to get Q to his ball hockey game on time and I met them there later. It was photo day.

The rest of the day was spent prepping for the party. Then Dave went to the movies with the boys and my mom and I went out for supper.

We went to church on Sunday morning and managed to get a nice photo.

Then it was party time!  Our neighbour friends are moving away later this summer so we organized a little farewell party for them.  We had it at a local private club. It had rained in the morning but we lucked out with no rain until at the very end when most people had already left.

The bouncy castle was a big hit.  We also had badminton, spikeball, soccer, and frisbee.  There was a lot of good food and drinks and company.

The hostesses with the most-esses.

We successfully got a group photo!

A few of us stayed around after for some burgers.  This was "how many men does it take to light the BBQ?" In their defence, there was something wrong with the lines and the propane wasn't as high as it should have been, but the burgers got cooked eventually.

Sweaty (and a little rain soaked) kids.

We've had lots of fun over the years!

We cleaned up the party, brought home the extra food, and somehow managed to stay awake for an episode of Succession.

  1. It looks like you had a wonderful birthday! So many lovely presents and time with your mum and the rest of the family. Your birthday breakfast of salmon, cream cheese and capers looks delicious. And it's also one of my favourites. I usually have mine on sourdough. What a great farewell party for your neighbours, it's sad when nice neighbours move away. One of mine moved away earlier this year, she used to knock on our door regularly to give us treats or ask for help for 20 years! When she told us she was moving I cried.
