Not Just A Mom - How we became a mom

Happy Monday! Welcome to our monthly link up.  My co-hosts are AdrienneDaraJenJoanne and Lauren. This month we are talking about how we became a mom.

I am fortunate enough to be the mom to two sweet boys.   E was born in 2011 and Q was born in 2016.  With E, I found out I was pregnant in February.  Nothing too noteworthy about finding out, and I had a fairly easy pregnancy.  For Q, it took a bit longer and you can read about that here.  That pregnancy was a bit tougher on me and I was pretty tired, especially near the end. I only ever wanted to have two kids so I was happy to be done. I'm sure Dave would love to have three or four kids, but I said there is no way I can do that again!

For both kids I had scheduled c-sections so they were both pretty controlled situations.  With E, being my first baby, I didn't know what to expect so it was a bit more stressful. We were in a semi-private room the first night we were in the hospital. We really struggled with breastfeeding, but persevered(!!) even through the jaundice and spending another night in hospital for E to spend some time under the lights. We were overwhelmed but learned together.

With Q, it was a much more relaxed process.  I knew what to expect from the c-section, we had a private room,  I already knew how to breastfeed (and Q caught on fairly quickly), and we felt pretty comfortable.  I also knew it was my last baby so I was happy to sit and hold a sleeping baby, and we knew that whatever stage Q was going through was something that would end eventually.

Baby E (he's 11 now)

Baby Q (he's 6 now)

New family of four.

  1. I love that picture of the 4 of you! Yes, everything is much less stressful the second time around. You already feel like a seasoned pro. Those baby pics of the boys are adorable ☺️

  2. All through Rachel's pregnancy, I told Dave, "It's a good thing we decided on two kids because I am NOT doing this again."

  3. I remember saying something about "next time" when I was in the hospital with my second and my husband said something to the effect of that labor being much too easy if I was already talking about next time! I think he would have been perfectly content with just 2 kids.

  8. Such sweet pictures of your babies, and of your family! I think the first time no one ever knows what to expect and it's a steep learning curve! My first baby spent some time in the NICU which was very stressful and definitely NOT expected!
