Show and Tell Tuesday

Today's topic is your "Momfessional" moments.  This means those confessions of moments when you're less than proud of yourself as a parent, we all have them!

I am not very good at remembering to get E to brush his teeth.  I also didn't schedule his first dentist appointment until after his 4th birthday and when we finally got there he had a cavity.  Now I could just say that some people are more prone to cavities than others, or that the place where he had the cavity was the only place in his mouth where the teeth were too close together, but I really can't ignore that our teeth brushing habits have been less than stellar.  

Usually on the weekends, Dave and I will enjoy some chips or popcorn in the evenings.  We now have to make sure we hide all of the evidence of this when we go to bed, because if E finds the empty bag or bowl of unpopped kernels, he gets a little disappointed that we ate those things without him.

When E is watching a show and we're trying to leave the house to go somewhere, I have to tell him I will record his show so he will let me turn it off. Sometimes I'll actually press the button and record it, but I've also been known to just pretend I've pressed record.  In either case, he never remembers when we get back from wherever we were.

This is from last year, but it shows the concentration on the TV, which causes me to say "we need to turn the show off, but I can tape it and we can watch it when we get back!"

When E gets on a roll of asking questions about something, usually we end up answering a question with "Science" when we don't know the answer or if we are just getting tired of all of the questions.  I mean, science isn't exactly a wrong answer, just very vague.  Anyway, the other day we were asking E to choose between two things and pick the thing he liked better.  He kept saying he couldn't choose and we were telling him to "just pick one!", and he says "I don't know, science, okay?" So now he thinks science is just the answer when you don't know the answer, our strategy has backfired.
