Little Things

Last year I posted my favourite things about fall.  I love summer, as you probably know about me, but I still like to embrace the present.  I am not pining for hot weather (although it is still hot some days), instead I will enjoy the new season and take pleasure in the little things.  Last night after supper I went outside to take the recycling to the garage and I could smell and feel the chill in the air.  It was lovely.  Fall begins this week and we are ready.

In many things it is sometimes hard to be completely happy with your circumstances at the moment.  We usually have something to complain about or yearn for.  In church on Sunday we talked about the simple things in life.  Our minister asked the children if they ever lie in the grass and look up at the sky, he even laid down on the floor when he was talking about it!  The kids (who aren't usually too talkative anyway) didn't say they've ever done that but lots of adults in the congregation said they have looked at clouds in the sky.  Keeping it simple will be a goal for us this fall, along with trying not to complain about relatively little things.  "Do all things without mumurings and disputing...Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ" Philippians 2: 14 and 16.

This is last year's Humber River.  Can't wait to see the salmon run this fall, and watch the leaves turn along the water.
