Friday Favourites

Linking up with AndreaErika and Narci for Friday Favourites.

And a Happy Good Friday to you all.

Okay, I am being totally nerdy with the first two.  This week with the terrorist attacks in Belgium, the Federal Budget, and the death of (former Toronto mayor) Rob Ford, I decided to actually watch the news so on Tuesday I recorded The National with Peter Mansbridge, but then watched it on Wednesday evening.  It is a really well done show.  I mean, I always knew that, but I really enjoyed the in-depth coverage, the security specialists they spoke to, the At Issue panel, etc.  I really should make more of an effort to watch the news.  And for those of you not from Canada, you may still know the anchor Peter Mansbridge from Zootopia.  He had a small cameo as Peter Moosebridge.

Canada Reads is a national program that took place this week where five Canadian celebrities debate which book should be the book that "Canada reads" (although we are not so provincial as to then issue a copy to every citizen as required reading).  It is such a Canadian concept, a game show based on reading.  But I get into every year and have even read some of the books that were chosen, and some that were not chosen.  I love how prepared and intelligent the contestants are and how passionate they are about the book they have chosen.  We have a lot of great literature in this country and any attention to it is good.  Since it is on during the day, I have been downloadnig the podcast to listen to in the car.  I'm not done yet, so I don't actually know who the winner is yet.

We are loving our new rugs, it's like we always had them.  This is the one in the living room.  We got one for our bedroom too but I haven't taken a picture yet because the room hasn't been tidy enough to be photo worthy. Maybe this weekend I can snap one.

We are celebrating my favourite holiday, Easter, this weekend with decorations and food.

And of course the best part about Easter is that Jesus rose from the dead to live an eternal life in heaven and those who believe in him get to do the same.  The Christmas story is fine, but give me the Easter story any day.  That was the true miracle.

Have a happy Easter weekend everyone!
