What's Up Wednesday

What we're eating this week...
Sunday - Chicken thighs and lemon parm pasta
Monday - Natasha's Chickpea and Carrot Salad
Tuesday - Picnic supper at the ballfield
Wednesday to Saturday - Dave and I will be in California so looking forward to some fun nights out.

What I'm reminiscing about...
My trip to San Francisco in 2019 (read about it here). I love discovering a new city, but I also like going back and feeling familiar with the area.  Excited to try those Irish Coffees at Buena Vista again!

What I'm loving...
Backyard (and front yard) drinks with neighbours! We have been able to do this a few times in the last couple of weeks.  We are so fortunate to live where we do!

What we've been up to...
Golfing! Dave has been out several times, several! And he's taken the boys out a couple of times, and I've even been out twice, with another tee time booked for next week.  Golfing family, it's all happening!! (Almost Famous reference)

What I'm dreading...
What I was dreading was yesterday, the day before leaving for holiday.  It always seems that things come out of the woodwork while you're trying to go away - work was busy, trying to pack and tidy the house was busy, and we had two evening sports and we had to get my mom from the airport.  It is always worth it in the end of course!

What I'm working on...
Packing up our house for our reno, making some preliminary design decisions, and planning a going away party for friends.

What I'm excited about...
Summer! I love summer, it is my favourite, and the weather is finally here. Toronto in June is the best.

What I'm watching/reading...
Dave and I are finally getting on the Succession train, as everyone else is getting off.  We are also enjoying The Diplomat and although we haven't seen the Ted Lasso finale yet, we have loved Season 3.

I shared my May books earlier this week here

What I'm listening to...
Tuesday's episode of The Bridge was such an interesting listen.  Peter's guest was a Canadian who has volunteered with the Ukrainian military to fight the Russians.  He has a bit of a sorted past, and you can tell he thinks on a different wavelength than most people.  He was very candid with his experiences and his stories were fascinated. This may be one that I listen to again. Check it out.

What I'm wearing...
While I was packing for our trip it seemed that apparently I love Nordstrom (and Nord Rack!) more than I thought as most of my clothes are from there - Zella, Vuori, Madewell, etc. I may have to branch out! Or go there when I'm in the US this week.

What I'm doing this weekend...
Berkeley and San Francisco :) (Without the kids)

What I'm looking forward to next week...
My birthday week!!

What else is new...
Closely monitoring the forest fires in Nova Scotia. I have family members near both fires and the photos and videos are frightening.  Hoping for rain soon! This is the lighthouse in the Shelburne Harbour, looking at the smoke to the west, and the water bomber from Newfoundland reloading.

I'll be back next week!

Linking up with Shay.

  2. Have a wonderful trip! Drinks with your neighbours sounds great, we have nice neighbours but we just say hi and bye and feed their cat when they go away. Your summery days sound wonderful. Enjoy your birthday week Sarah and I look forward to hearing all about your trip when you get back. xx

  4. Oh, I am praying for the people of Nova Scotia. My BIL and SIL and niece and nephew had to escape Fort Mac when it burned and it was terrifying. Ever since then, I have not underestimated forest fires and how dangerous and devastating they can be.

On a completely different note, your picture under "what I'm excited about" is my absolute favourite Toronto view!!! Enjoy San Francisco! I can't wait until Dave and I can do a couples trip again. They're the best!

Oh, and I hope the chickpea salad lived up to its hype. I'm always nervous when I LOVE a recipe and someone else tries it....

  5. I finished the Diplomat last weekend, and I really enjoyed it. I love our neighborhood too--it's nice when we get to just get together and hang out on the back patio or the pool. Those fires are scary! I hope they get under control soon. Hope you all are having a great time in San Fran.
