Let's Look Wednesday

Today we are looking at our yummy fall recipes.

With Thanksgiving coming up this weekend, I thought I would tell you about what I plan to make since this is the hallmark of our fall eating:

Turkey, of course.  I will make some herbed butter and put it under the skin.  I also like to put stuffing in the turkey.  And we usually have extra stuffing so I do some in a separate dish on the side, but it's never as good as the stuff in the bird.
Mashed Potatoes.  Whipped with butter and cream.
Roasted carrots and parsnips.
Squash.
Brussel sprouts.
Gravy.
Cranberry sauce.
Rolls.
Apple pie, pumpkin pie and some other dessert.
#basic

I already made the gravy and cranberry sauce and they are hanging out in the freezer until the weekend.

Last year I did a healthier pared down version of Thanksgiving (see here) and it was good too, but this year will be back to the traditional dinner since we will be hosting Dave's family.

Other popular fall meals we like around here are:

We also use many of Shay's recipes for special events:
Crunchy Beef and Mac for the first day of school

    1. I'm not sure yet, but I'm thinking some combination of walnuts and cranberries on acorn squash. Or I could just do brown sugar and butter like my mom always did. We'll see.
