Happy Friday! I hope it was a good week for you.
I didn't post a Friday Favourite post last week so I missed sharing my new sneakers. They are bright but I love them! I always get Nikes and I wanted something a little different from just white.
On Tuesday I posted a bit about the shameful treatment of Indigenous people in Canada, specifically with respect to the unmarked burial site for 215 Indigenous children in Kamloops, BC. Many people posted this poem and I thought it was beautiful so I wanted to share it here in case you missed it.
I made Earthy Andy's recipe for vegan cookie dough ice cream. It's made from frozen bananas and then you break up pieces of the "cookie dough" after you've blended the bananas. I used regular flour instead of gluten-free, and I baked the flour in the oven for 5 minutes so it was safe to eat "raw". It's so tasty! (However this does not count towards my Summer Bucket List, I want to the full cream homemade ice cream too!)
Dave and E were golfing with friends on Thursday night so Q and I walked up to meet the mom and little brother of those friends for some ice cream after supper. Thumbs up from Q.
This is Grade 4 - online and on a headset. The kids will not be returning to school in person this year, which is disappointing, but whatever. It would have only been a few weeks so we can continue to manage. Hopefully there will be a way to meet up with friends throughout the summer.
I am a big fan of Anthony Bourdain but only really discovered him after he died. I just found out that a documentary has been made about his life and I cannot wait to see it. His shows used to be on Netflix but they aren't now and I am craving his voice, adventures, and appetite for all food.
Oooo! I like your new shoes! Bright is what we need. Thanks for sharing the poem. I had not seen it. It is perfect....i felt a peace for the children as Mother Earth enfolded them in love.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
What pretty shoes! Such a bummer that the kids will not be returning to in person schooling this school year.
