Can we all just do a collective scream right now? The hits keep coming - COVID, war, inflation, supply chain and food shortages, and now the erosion of women's rights with the anticipated US Supreme Court revocation of Roe v. Wade. It's a lot (and I'm not even really suffering myself).
What really annoys me is that a certain faction of the population shout for "Freedom" at the top of their lungs while taking away the actual freedom of others. Why do they not see, it's not about them!?! If you don't want an abortion, don't get one. Why is the sanctity of life so important that we must force people to remain pregnant to save an unborn child, but when they are born, the concern drops off? And what about the sanctity of life of the mother whose health (mental and/or physical) may be at risk?
People say that's the United States, we don't need to worry about that, and maybe we don't, but what the takeaway from this Roe v. Wade draft decision is that people lie. Justice Kavanaugh said in his confirmation hearing that he believed in stare decisis, which means court precedent is supposed to mean something, but that is not what has happened. I know the Liberals and NDP wouldn't touch abortion rights in this country, but what will the currently leaderless Conservative Party do if given the opportunity?
