Little Things - Online School Edition

As we get to the end of the school year with much of it being online, I wanted to appreciate the "little things" that accompanied our time at home with the kids:

Sleeping in - We usually drop the kids off around 8:00 at the YMCA but with school not actually starting until 9:00, then there is no rush to get up and at 'em.

Seeing classmates - We don't often get to know who is in the kids' classes and what they are like, but now we know all of the kids in Q's class, and many of their parents.

Not worrying about every little sniffle - Now we haven't actually had any illness (knock on wood) with the exception of the first week at school when Q had to stay home for a few days, but any time they would sniff or cough, I would be hyper alert to make sure it wasn't an actual cold (let alone Covid!).

Not packing lunches - No explanation needed.

Lunchtime errands - I like taking the boys with me to pick up our grocery order, library books, and other quick things during the lunch break.

As much as I would love to just have them in school, there are good things about them being at home that I'm (trying to be) grateful for.

  1. Yes, not rushing to get out the door in the morning and no packed lunches are what I'd think of as benefits, too.

  2. I agree that not having the morning rush is lovely. I feel like I see less of the kids' classmates because we would always connect on the schoolyard. Unlike Q, both my kids are completely in their rooms all the time. And yes, it has been nice to not have to worry about anyone getting sick.
