Not Just A Mom Link Up - Getting Cozy/Small Comforts

Yay, it's the first instalment of the 2021 Not Just a Mom Link Up Series, and I am a host :) Please link up at the bottom to share your post if you are a blogger.  I look forward to seeing what makes you cozy.

For any new readers, hello!! My name is Sarah, I live in Toronto (but grew up and attended university on the East Coast of Canada). I am lawyer.  I am also a mom to two boys (4 and 9) and married to Dave.  My blog is mostly about what we have been up to, with a bit of a focus on food and books.  I am a member of the United Church of Canada so I often share some thoughts on what Jesus means to me.  I am also a (small L) liberal in Canada, and I will sometimes address current events from that angle.  I post most weekdays so I hope you come back to see me, welcome!

We love to go outside all of the time even in the wintertime, but the best part is coming home to our warm home and getting cozy! (As the Canadian contingent of this link up I should mention that we sometimes spell it "cosy" too, using the British spelling.)

We have lots of throw blankets by both TVs in the house so everyone can get their own or share and snuggle together.

We have a gas fireplace in the living room, which is always cozy.  Our house is old which means we have the nice heat from the boiler and radiators, but it also means parts are drafty.

Our basement TV room (set up here for a workout) has no windows so it is always cozy.

Our bed has a duvet on it during the winter months and I love snuggling underneath.

When I see people walking around without hats and scarves I wonder how they are warm enough. We are always bundled up in the winter.

When I think of small comforts, I am usually thinking of food. Some of these for me are:

Popcorn and Tea
Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Tomato Soup
French Onion Soup
Red Wine
Cinnamon Toast (not the cereal, actual toast with cinnamon)
Bagel with Cream Cheese

Plan to join us next month when we talk Healthy Habits and Staying Motivated.

  1. Oh yes, I forgot about comfort foods like grilled cheese and tomato soup and Kraft Dinner! Yum!!! I debated talking about staying cozy outside but decided not to but yes, mitts, hats, and scarves all play a major part!

  5. I love grilled cheese and tomato soup! I think I love cooking so much in the winter because I use my crock pot more and usually whatever I make in the crock pot lasts two nights. Leftovers are a cozy comfort for me.
